Champion Stadium – Johto Challenge Week 4

Strategy in nutshell:
Well I hate to say this, but I am using one 5* gacha unit again this week (ie Torterra again), hence almost f2p.
Nevertheless, just to make it clear again that this video benefits the most if u have at least played the games for few months. Meaning u should at least have all 3* and 4* units, along with some decent gacha units.
If you notice from my playstyle, I tend to maximise 1500 points for stalling matches using poison/trap, while aiming only 1000 points for “brute-forcing” matches. At such, with the f2p friendly stalling teams being used, hopefully u still have more available gacha units to choose from in order to score 1500 points for “brute-forcing” matches.
Sequence of my matches this week is Will, Bruno, Karen, Koga, and Lance. This was intentional in order to fit well with the parameters sequence, plus the f2p friendly units that will be used.
Against Will:
No one expects that Xatu to have Impervious passive, hence have to modify the team abit from Weezing to Crobat (ie normal poison to badly poison), because you’d want to end the match sooner, knowing that Xatu can’t be debuffed.
Salamance provides both def and sp def buffs because opponents have both physical and special attacks.
Beaten the stage with full 1500 points.
Against Bruno:
The 2nd parameter is try not to let any of your team members faint, which I may face the risk of fainting using stalling team. Hence decided to go for Bruno first using Mewtwo to “brute force” 1000 points, so that the match can end quicker.
Against Karen:
3rd parameter is to use sync moves quickly against all opponents, obviously not the best match to use stalling team lol. Hence using Lucario to “brute force” 1000 points.
Hence match up took me quite a while because of that pesky evasive buff by Karen.
*update: there’s a bug with Karen where Houndoom faints after using its 1st sync move, the trick is to select +2 HP, +4 HP and +6 HP options lol*
Against Koga:
4th parameter doesn’t really bother me to use stalling team hence I went ahead with the Serviper-Ariados combo. Opponents are mainly physical strikers, hence Swanna is quite handy here. Easy 1500 points scored.
Against Lance:
Original plan was to use Lunatone instead of Torterra. Initially I thought Lance’s Charizard was a special striker, hence Lunatone to provide sp def buff, plus also provide sp attack buff for Empoleon’s damage output. Who would have known that nonsense Charizard actually spams Flare Blitz like nobody’s business?!!
Basically you want to quickly end the match before u got Flare-Blitzed way too much! At this point I ran out of f2p defense buffer, hence I had no choose but to go for Torterra. However it can easily be substituted other decent tanks like SS Blue, Skyla, Jasmine, etc.
