So the Masters of Land and Sea event in Pokemon Masters EX gave us a first look at the Battle Point sync pairs. These are pretty useful free to play sync pairs that would help your journey immensely in Pokemon Masters EX. They even come equipped with a pretty standardized sync grid that differs minimally between them. And the least relevant sync pair out of all of these is probably Karen & Umbreon. With only 2x Standfast 5 and 1x Standfast 3, you will suffer a bigger recoil damage than Emboar. Zebstrika only has 2x standfast 5 tiles but with Inertia, Zebstrika is a much better sync nuker while Umbreon only has Critastrophe, Critical Strike 2 and Double-down to boost it’s sync move damage, all together doesn’t even equate to a fully buff Inertia.
Having said all that, I do not have Halloween Hilbert so my roster has a vacancy for a Dark type physical striker. So I chose Umbreon. Umbreon will be difficult to use. You must provide enough support to him(yes Karen’s Umbreon is a him) or he will succumb to the recoil from her Double-Edge. The regen from his trainer move does help to mitigate this alittle but in the long run it would be preferable that you bring a healer alongside Umbreon. I took First Aid 4 to relieve some pressure from Eevee in terms of healing. Hilbert provides the relevant boosts and softens the enemy bit by bit with Defense Crush 2 and Umbreon proceeds to ram everything to death.
All in all i’m pretty satisfied with my pick. Once Cobalion becomes available, he would be my immediate pick, but with us earning 250 BP per event and 1 copy of Cobalion is priced at 10,000 BP… it will be awhile before that happens.
