Pokemon Masters – Champion Stadium Alola – F2P Friendly (Feb 2022 Week 4)
Haven’t done one of these in a while, and I have the day off so I went ahead and did an F2P run. Types this week are nothing special. Rock is an annoying type so I used Xerneas unfortunately.
1) Hala (Use sync moves as much as possible) – Lucario (5* 0/20, 3/5), Cobalion (1/5), Medicham (4*)
Cobalion’s Fighting Teamwork gets fully activated here. Usually I do Power Reserves builds with Lucario, but now that I have Cobalion, I can afford to be lazy and just spam Close Combat. Coba’s Sacred Sword and Medicham’s Drain Punch deal respectable damage alongside Close Combat. The stage parameter makes things even easier, as it’s like we’re getting an EX boost for free without having to bring an EX support.
2) Olivia (Use status / other conditions) – Palkia (6EX, 5/5), Psyduck (5* 0/20, 5/5), Pelipper (4*)
Palkia is the go-to unit for F2P Water stages. Give it some rain and then some defensive support and then just spam Hydro Pump. With the new grid, we now have 100 percent Hydro Pumps as well as Sharp Entry, making Palkia much more consistent.
3) Acerola (Special dmg. reduction) – Mewtwo (6EX, 5/5), Probopass (4*), Lunatone (4*)
Mewtwo is still OP, nothing new to see here. Give it some supports and then spam Shadow Ball.
4) Kahili (Use stat lowering effects) – Xerneas (20/20, 5/5), Onix (4*, 3/5), BP Raichu (3/5)
Boring team. Probably should have just toxic stalled it, or used Zamazenta instead of Raichu for better damage output.
5) Kukui (Use physical moves + Use sync moves as much as possible) – Arcanine (5* 0/20, 5/5), Serperior (6EX, 2/5), Egg Ninetales (4*)
Blue’s Hot Dog is a good doggo. Give it some 6EX support and sun and we’re good to go. Usually I would use something like Eevee + Leafeon, but for F2P we’re a lot more limited. Luckily, Serperior + Egg Ninetales is barely good enough to snatch the win. It does depend a bit on RNG though, for example if he uses Seed Bomb twice then Serperior dies and you have to reset.
