Anni Raihan is one of those jack-of-all-trades units who has a whole bullet point list of utility in his kit, but he’s not necessarily the best option for each individual niche. Rather, his value comes from compressing all of those niches into one unit, and I try to spotlight some of them in this video. I rolled Mind Games 2 as his lucky skill to combo with his grid’s Mind Boggler 9.
He reminds me a lot of Classic Elesa, in that she may not be the best debuffer, and there are arguably better paralysis inducers than her, but the fact that she can do both of those – and Light Screen, and Electric Terrain, and Max Guard – is what gives her value. Both Anni Raihan and Classic Elesa aren’t must-pulls by any means, but IMO the depth in their kits is what makes them fun to use. (And it helps that Flygon and Emolga are 10/10 Pokemon haha)

While a lot of units appreciate Anni Raihan’s Sandstorm kit, there are much fewer who appreciate both Sandstorm and Sp Def debuffs – and one of them happens to be base Raihan haha. But here I use May, whose Earth Power appreciates the sand boost, Sp Def debuff boost, SE Up next boost, and Special Moves Up next boost. SS Elesa completes the team with her buffs, EX boost, and countdown acceleration.

Anni Raihan isn’t as efficient in setting sun as he is in setting up Sandstorm, but for shorter fights like CSMM, those two sun procs are all you need. I pick Ethan as the striker here since he doesn’t need to sync, while Falkner completes the team’s offensive buffs. One other fun thing about Raihan’s kit are his max moves, as they are essentially another sync move that he can fire off whenever – that Max Flare at the end did way more damage than I thought it would haha.

As a Sandstorm unit, Anni Raihan is of course great against Moltres, and with only one opponent, his flinches as just as effective as Acerola’s. Sticking with those niches would just make him a Poke Fair Acerola though, so I brought along Classic Blue to take advantage of his Sp Def debuffs with Hyper Beam. Jasmine completed the team with her defense buffs, and she’s also much tankier under sand.

This stage was made for Anni Raihan so of course he’s gonna do well in it, so I mixed it up a bit by making him the main tank. Weather Buff also boosts his defenses under weather, so he’s a passable-enough tank if needed. He tanks for Zinnia here, who adds yet another weather setter to her collection – and this is the first one who activates her type skill! Ingo completes the team for his buffs, and he is the one setting the sand here, which Raihan extends with Sand Alert 5.
