3 Restrain units keep Uxie at bay (Legendary Gauntlet 2) [Pokemon Masters EX]

0:00 – Selene / Torchic / Calem
4:18 – Nessa / Tech Electabuzz / Misty
9:40 – Allister / Agatha / EX Rosa

(Had other videos I wanted to upload later this week so I’m double-posting today!)

Ran out of trapping units to use? These restrain units have you covered. As many have realized from the Kalos EBE, one of the (admittedly few) benefits of restrain is being able to bypass Acute Senses. For Uxie in particular, it has an edge over the other status changes in that Uxie never becomes immune to it, nor does it heal from it in the second half of its HP bars. You only have to re-apply it at the start of each bar.

(And before anyone asks: No, I don’t have SS Serena, so I wouldn’t have been able to include her here even if I wanted to. I do think she’s better used for this stage than Latias’s since there are less status change inducers than debuffers, but she’s a good pick in any stage anyway haha.)

Here’s how each battle went, and the sync grids used:

Team 1: Selene / Torchic / Calem – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=18000020000&e1=60&o1=30&g1=AAECAwQF&s1=1&id2=10123000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFFBUYGh8iKCstLi8=&s2=5&id3=10003000000&e3=1&o3=738&g3=AAECAwQFExUWFx4fICMkJSgr&s3=2

Selene’s an obvious pick for this stage as not only does she have a status change, the way she applies it is also super effective. Using Selene also meant I could pair her with Torchic since while neither of them could max out crit, they could do so together. Calem serves as a pretty good pseudo-tank here thanks to his trainer move, and Thunder Wave also gives Sp Atk debuffs. He even acts as a pseudo-support with his Speed buffs.

(While that burn proc from Torchic in the end was extremely lucky, I don’t think it was needed as Selene was still at green health by the end of the clear. I stuck with this run though since you’ll never know when RNG decides to become merciful haha)

Team 2: Nessa / Tech Electabuzz / Misty – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=18000030381&e1=60&o1=0&g1=&s1=1&id2=10249000000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBhUWFxwjJScqLC0=&s2=3&id3=10110000000&e3=1&o3=738&g3=AAECAwQFERITFRYYGhseICUn&s3=5

Nessa’s kit has a lot more restrain-related passives than the others, and they’re all very helpful. The free move next procs are really useful in keeping the gauge going, especially since I use an eggmon here. Tech Electabuzz has a distinct advantage over the other paralysis inducers because it has Brick Break, which means Uxie’s shield at the start won’t ruin my quad queue. Misty is the tank for her Sp Def buffs and, more importantly, her trainer move that gives both regen and heals.

(There’s also an argument to be had about using Nessa for Moltres instead as she’s on-type, but when I did practice runs with her, it was so frustrating to set up her sync since it requires a lot of turns relying on flinches. It would require me to use way more top-tier supports than I want to, so I settled for just bringing her here. Don’t get me wrong – I still think she’s a good pick for Moltres though if you’re looking to skip his second bar – just have to be patient with setting up her sync.)

Team 3: Allister / Agatha / EX Rosa – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10061000000&e1=60&o1=30&g1=AAECAwQF&s1=5&id2=10251000000&e2=3&o2=714&g2=AAECAwQFBgcICQoMERITFRobHB0jJCUm&s2=1&id3=10101000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFERITFRobHR4gISUmKSor&s3=2

I got ghost boi on the way to scout points on Anni Raihan’s banner – which is one of like three good pulls I got from throwing 36k gems on that banner ahaha. I thought this was gonna be an easy clear since Allister’s on-type, but this was surprisingly just as difficult to get as the Nessa clear above. I think it’s because I only have Allister at 1/5, so I couldn’t get Grappling Sync from his grid to re-apply Restrain.

There were also some attempts where Uxie would get Antitoxin earlier than usual, and I’m honestly not sure why, but that’s what pushed me to make this a double Gengar clear haha. Agatha’s one Hypnosis here is to prevent Iron Tail from chunking Rosa’s HP, and taking care of that HP bar with just sleep was important in making the third bar as flexible as possible. You can see my panic in the last HP bar haha – I should’ve went for Sludge Bomb in the second half.
