0:00 – Tech Munchlax / Flint / EX Leaf
4:29 – Tech Venomoth / Wallace / EX SC Jasmine

12:11 – Support Gastly / EX Clemont / EX NY Lillie
Thanks to the eggmons, there are a lot of units you can bring to Tornadus to address its paralysis gimmick, though some are more reliable in doing so than others. This explores how four of those paralysis-inducing eggmons fare.
You’ll notice that the first two clears are similar, as well as the last two clears. The first two rely on an OP support to keep the team healthy and boost damage, while the last two rely on an on-type sync nuker so that the stage doesn’t last too long.
Here’s how each battle went, and the sync grids used:
Team 1: Tech Munchlax / Flint / EX Leaf – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=014340&s0=1&l0=140&r0=1&p0=0&a0=0&t0=44&n0=1&f0=0&v1=000600039200&s1=5&l1=140&r1=4&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=44111&g1=AAECAwQFERQVFh8hJyksLQ&v2=001700013300&s2=5&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=0&t2=4441&g2=AAECAwQFExocHyEiJCYpKy4
Gauntlet has really shown how powerful Leaf is as a tank, as her slow-ramping omnibuffs are a lot more useful here than in Champion Stadium. Tech Munchlax is the paralyzer here to activate the Normal type skill (and Main Character theme skill to boot), while Flint is the damage-dealer as he’s hard-carried by Leaf’s buffs, down to the Accuracy buffs for Fire Blast.
In hindsight I could’ve probably used a different paralysis inducer like Muk or Pinsir since Leaf already fully buffs Sp Def, which is another of Munchlax’s niches here that could’ve been saved for a different team. But I think the +146 HP from the theme skills justified the use – both Flint and MunchMunch get quite close to being KOed here so I’m sure they appreciated the extra bulk.
Team 2: Tech Venomoth / Wallace / EX SC Jasmine – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=004940&s0=1&l0=140&r0=1&p0=0&a0=0&t0=11&n0=1&f0=0&v1=012700035000&s1=5&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=0&t1=44111&g1=AAECAwQFGxwdHh8gISMlKSwuLw&v2=011301079700&s2=5&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=0&t2=44111&g2=AAECAwQFBggLDhATFhkmKSs
I originally had SC Lillie as the tank here (who I got from a lucky daily, though she’s only 1/5) since she has similar buffs to SC Jasmine, but the missing +2 Sp Def and +2 Sp Atk that SC Jasmine can provide made a whole world of difference here, not to mention her Sp Def debuffs, EX sync boost, and Endurance. Wallace isn’t particularly strong outside of his sync nuke and Tech Venomoth is weak to Flying so they both needed maxed out stats to make this clear possible.
I knew I wanted to use Tech Venomoth with Wallace though to set up trap more reliably for his multipliers. What I did find out the hard way though was that since the battle lasts so long, Tornadus can cure itself from Trap quite quickly, and once cured he gains immunity from it. That’s why you see me use Trap here later into the HP bar so that the sync move takes Tornadus low enough for Brine to receive the damage boost.
Team 3: Tech Voltorb / EX Marnie / Marley – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=010140&s0=1&l0=140&r0=1&p0=0&a0=0&t0=41&n0=1&f0=0&v1=024500087700&s1=3&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDhUWGSMkJSksLS4&v2=009700005900&s2=5&l2=140&r2=3&p2=0&a2=0&t2=4111&g2=AAECAwQFBgcICREaGxwdHyIkJigqLQ
I had one of the 30% paralysis proc rate eggmons here since Marnie can also paralyze with Hostile Environment 5, but I found it inconsistent since having to spend a turn (or several) fishing for Thunder Shock paralysis procs really hurts her damage output. So I went with Tech Voltorb, who also activates the type skill. Marley is the tank here as Team Sharp Entry 1 lets me skip out on getting MPR from Marley’s grid, her Speed boosts helps Marnie’s trainer move and multiplier, her trainer move takes care of Toxic, and her teamwide regen helps keep the team healthy.
I could’ve probably gotten away with a 30% paralysis eggmon, but planning for my run I had enough paralysis inducers to reach my target win streak without resorting to those eggmons, so I don’t think Voltorb was wasted on this clear.
Team 4: Support Gastly / EX Clemont / EX NY Lillie – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=009420&s0=1&l0=140&r0=1&p0=0&a0=0&t0=11&n0=1&f0=0&v1=013100069500&s1=5&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=0&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFFRYXGBwfIiMmLi8&v2=011801074300&s2=1&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=0&t2=44114&g2=AAECAwQFBgcICQoMERMUGhscHR4gJSYnKA
For some reason, they decided to give Support (and not Tech) Gastly Hostile Environment 1, which means GasGas can both max out Sp Atk and induce paralysis. That makes him a great Clemont partner, since with his sync nuke build he doesn’t have the energy (or turns) for Mud Slap Ramp Up. NY Lillie completes the team as she was the only crit buffer I had left that fit in with the team, plus her trainer move lets her ignore Toxic.
(I did use her trainer move too late in the end there, but thankfully Clemont’s sync is strong enough to ignore it.)
