I’m still concerned it won’t look as good on Switch. The original was made for switch and you can tell because the ports look identical. This one I think was developed with faster hardware in mind and ported ‘down’ to the switch. I might just end up picking it up on Steam unless a Switch ‘Pro’ comes along before then

This game really looks extremely promising. The first game felt constrained and limited in many ways, probably due to budget, but for this one it feels like the devs have been unleashed to do everything they want.

Now make a pokémon game with these graphics and with all pokemon available (and regions)
If gamefreak won’t do it let square enix handle it

I’m curious and thinking of buying this, is it a sequel to the first game or does it have a different storyline? If it follows from the first game then I will buy that before this

Since it’s on PS5, isn’t it 4K-2D?

Thankfully this time it will release on Steam on day 1, after playing the first on the switch and then going for 100% on steam the quality difference was insane.
Already pre ordered and hyped for february!

I’ll be onboard if they hire some writers to come up with dialogue that is actually interesting to read…

I know I’m in the minority here, but I really don’t like the HD-2D look. I find it so ugly for some reason, can’t quite put my finger on why.

Please tell me they invested in the writing this time 🙁
I stopped playing OT1 because some of the dialogues were embarrassingly bad

In all our time up to now, this engine is **the** most superb opportunity to remaster Chrono Trigger. If there was ever a time to do it and, do it proper…it’s now. With this.

Hear me out: Super Mario RPG using the HD-2D format. I’m gonna keep bugging SquareEnix and Nintendo until I get a restraining order from them.

Just please have more party interactions within the character indivual storylines.
The first game felt way off in that sense.

really wish they didnt kowtow to the “complaints” from other people. Some of the best jrpgs just focus on gameplay which this excelled at. Having a padded story is worthless and will actively detract from the game especially if they put less effort into the combat which every modern jrpg does now.

I played about 55 hours of Octopath, I liked the battle system and some other elements but the story was pretty boring , especially the merchant chick.

It really bums me out that they are deliberately leaving out Xbox players on this one.

Final fantasy 6 in this engine is all I want
melody_elf
I hope they have discovered evolved use of writing a better story
Lil_Nanc
My hype is immeasurable and my days are brighter.
EtheusRook
I sure hope this means a Triangle Strategy 2 later.

Wouldn’t mind to see FF6 done like this, if they choose not to port the pixel remasters
ActivateGuacamole
I wish they’d hire better pixel artists.
WyrmHero1944
SE having this technology at its disposal but no wanting to use it for FF remakes is fucking insane

Didn’t an Octopath mobile game just come out? At this rate, people are gonna be sick of this series pretty soon.
FuaT10
Makes me a little worried if the switch can handle it?
myhihi1
I feel like people only ever talk about the art style of these games and nothing else about them.
