Happy to see XC3 but Kirby and the Forgotten Land was robbed. I think this is Elden Ring’s to lose
Will never win (my personal GOTY but I’m realistic lol) but for how niche it is, this is a huge win in and of itself
Mitsuda and ACE+ were nominated for OST of the year, I’m already happy for them.
I really liked that Kirby game they made this year. I probably would have put that on the list if given the chance.
Glad to see A Plague Tale: Requiem get some recognition!
Xenoblade finally getting some validation for once. I mean it won’t win obviously, it finally gets some recognition.
Although I did think it was gonna be Kirby, I think that had more universal praise and had its own “BOTW moment” like Elden Ring.
Deserves the nomination but won’t win. Elden Ring or Ragnarok will win. Personally I think elden ring will win as it’s the better game
I’m a bit surprised Kirby didn’t make it. I think Plague Tale: Requiem was the surprising dark horse with so many nominations, but from what I’ve seen of coverage it features some cool advancements in development, particularly with all the rats that are featured in it.
After years of the franchise being snubbed even from a “Best RPG” nomination, making it in for a GOTY contender is extremely cathartic. I don’t even care whether it wins or loses, I’m satisfied.
Elden Ring is taking this one no questions asked
Obviously for me it’s between Ragnarok and Elden ring, no questions asked, but the sole fact that XC3 is nominated is THE victory in itself.
The orchestra will play XC3 music I read too :).
ACE+ deserves the OST of the year award tho, criminally underrated.

Otherwise, GOOD LUCK to the jury for this choice lmao. Both exquisite productions:
🔸 Arcane: League of Legends🔸 Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
Honestly Stray kind of seems out of place there.
Great to see it nominated but the winner is clearly a toss with Elden Ring or GOW. My personal vote is Elden ring.
Nice to even be nominated for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, even though it won’t win.
Stray making that list is weird though. It was a fun indie game, but it doesn’t compete with the rest of that list.
I enjoyed Stray as a cute, short game that was essentially an easy platform / puzzler that had the novelty of being a cat. It’s honestly hard to take this award seriously with a game like Stray being on it. If you don’t care about playing as a cat and aren’t part of the incredible marketing / Reddit echo chamber, then it’s a slightly above average indie game.
Seriously, what did Stray achieve that was truly special and unique?
The rest of the games deserve to be on the list of noms with Elden Ring the clear favorite and GOW a dark horse contender.
Dumb question, do I need to play the previous Xenoblades or can I jump right into 3?
So awesome to see the franchise finally get the recognition it deserves!
Kudos to Monolith Software for such a great game!
While it’s definitely not more of the same, GOW was not the big switch-up in innovation that I think Elden Ring had, that deserves the award.
Same thing in 2018. I think GOW went on to win because it was this massive innovation from it’s original formula that took a ton of risks, and and insane undertaking to create. It paid off in a big way. Where as Red Dead being one of the most refined of it’s kind. I feel the same of Ragnarok. It deserves all the praise and probably GOTY in any other year.
Elden ring was a cultural icon for a month or so. I had friends who hadn’t touched a single player game in decades have to try this game out and most replayed it. People fell in love with the freedom of choice in nearly every aspect. Some fell for the story some just the gameplay. It didn’t have a target demographic.
Wow, i’m glad to see XB3 being nominated.
I love all the XB games, especially 1 but 3 was just something special.
It probably won’t win, but it’s great to see the series getting the spotlight it deserves.
How horizon has made that list baffles me
Got to be Elden Ring for me, but GoW and XB3 would probably top my list almost any other year
Haven’t played the other two games
Happy for xenoblade players! Stray is the odd one here. Feels like another Nintendo game should’ve gone there instead, like Kirby or Arceus
Whoa, got a rare doodah right here
I’ve never played a Xenoblade game but I’m interested in trying this one out. Would I be overwhelmed with lore/mechanics?
Xenoblade music confirmed as part of the Game Awards Orchestra medley for GotY contenders.
Here’s to hoping Xenoblade as a franchise finally wins soundtrack of the year.
Hell yeah, well earned, fantastic game.
I still feel like Horizon and Stray do not belong in 50% of the categories they got into, but other than those 2 games the overall nominees seems pretty fair this year
The xenoblade sub is having a field day, and working to get the game as many votes as it can.
You hear that Noah?
Can I play Xenoblade 3 without touching any of the others?
I know it won’t win. But I voted for goty. It its the best game of the year for me. I’m the kinda o guy that don’t keep with a new game, normally the cycle is: buy new game > play for X hours > get bored > never play again.
I bought xenoblade after an emergency surgery, and I played for 10 hours straight for 8 days.
I smiled, cried and had a lot of different emotions while playing.
This game is goty in my heart, and that’s what matters the most.
Well deserved! XC3 has become my favorite rpg of all time. It won’t win the award but having it nominated is enough for me.
I just bought this games last week because of a random suggested OST on Youtube. It won’t win GOTY but I’ll commit a war crime if the OST doesn’t win.
Elden Ring, no doubt.
