Is it good? I snagged it for $30 on Amazon but haven’t even opened it yet. Gotta finish Shin Megami Tensei V first.
And ATLUS for some reason didn’t want to release it outside of PS.
Cool, I am 18 hours in right now and oh my god this game is fantastic! I am totally going to pick up golden and p3p
Frustrated I didn’t pick it up for the Switch during the $30 sale. I have the pristine PS5 version but there’s something cozy and relaxing about playing on the OLED.
Hoping this sets a precedent for Persona being more of a mainstay on Switch in the future considering it could easily replace having to wait years for a portable version like with P3P and P4G. Also really hoping that the PS1 trilogy end up getting ported or remastered for Switch so I have less of a reason to keep my hacked Vita around just for stuff like the P2 Eternal Punishment PSP English patch (and because Persona 2 still has the best story in the entire series and more people should play it)
Still crossing my fingers P5 Arena happens. Arc System games have come so far in presentation that meshing the fluidity of something like GG Strive or FighterZ with Persona 5’s presentation and aesthetic inspirations would make for a god tier fighting game, especially now that they can use the Royal-specific stuff unlike P5S
I bought it again for PS5 even though I bought it on sale digital like some months ago jijijiji
I just bought this yesterday. What are the chances that I’m the 1 millionth buyer?
Guess this new re-release will finally push the Persona franchise sales numbers above Gex’s franchise sales.
I’ve never played a Persona game before this one. Started playing two weeks ago. I’m 16 hours in and I’m already looking forward to Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable coming to Switch.
It’s that good.
Oozes style, slowly unravels gameplay to the player in digestible format, and varies gameplay so rhythmically that I haven’t even begun to get bored. The game is pushing me forward and the perfect pace. It’s gonna be a 120 hour game that doesn’t feel like one.
Few years ago, I played half the game on a borrowed ps4. I really loved the it and was dying to finish what I had started. First I thought that replaying the beginning would be burdensome but the new storyline from Royal made it really enjoyable
How does this game compare to persona 4? I played p4g back on the vita and will likely play this on switch
I’m 40 hours in and it’s currently in my top 5. Haven’t poured this many hours in such a short time since breath of the wild and three houses. and diablo 3.
Had I known this game was coming out eventually on Switch, I might have waited instead of playing it on PS4. It feels like a great game to chip away at while in bed. Either way, it’s exciting to see so many new players enjoying this one!
The game was totally worth it. Great story and good time waster.
ATLUS, and a couple Japanese companies for that matter blow my mind that they actively fight against things that are beneficial for them
I got it for Christmas. Looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about
Psst! Look Nintendo/Atlus! It’s doing really well, so maybe we can get a cheeky little reprint of the Joker Amiibo please?
Thinking of buying this
Can I ask for advice?
So, I had been waiting for a Switch port for so long that I gave up last year and just started playing the original on PS4. I just beat the tomb palace.
I was gifted Royal on the switch, but to be honest I don’t feel like replaying so much of the game again. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this game, especially the story and characters. I just find the palaces to be such a drag. I felt the same way about P3 and P4 as well.
So if I start Royal now, how different will it feel from the original? I see that I have to max my Counselor social link— how early in the game can I do this?
I’ve never played it before the Switch release but I’ve listened to the OST loads of times and heard nothing but praise. I am so happy ot have finally experienced this now. I’m at the very last palace and feel so sad it’s about to be over. What an experience.
Hopefully this convinces Atlus to make future Persona games available on different platforms right from the start.
These are pretty good numbers but in all honesty I think the numbers would have been greater if they ported P5 Royal over to the Switch when Jokers revealed happened in Smash Bros years ago. Atlus really missed the hype train on that.
I’m really happy it came to gamepass. Otherwise I might not have played it, not really a big fan of anime games. This one was special though, the story is interesting and the characters are mostly great. A few cringe moments and dialog, like the showtime attacks, but all in all I am really enjoying this game. I only started it up while waiting for god of war Ragnarok to install and so far I haven’t played that game yet.
This game is so good that it took my top spot after 18 years of it being unmoved. Like this is one of the few games that I’m purchasing after playing it, it’s that good. And they released the collector’s edition for Xbox, it seems, so it’s likely going to be that version as well. Such a masterpiece
Well i def. need to get the game on PC / Xbox again (though rather Sale, i’m not really into paying fullprice again, for my third/fourth copy). Switch i might this time skip though.
Still need to pick this up myself but I’m glad it’s doing well. Looks like Atlus sat on their asses with this game for no reason.
Just hoping that Joker isn’t annoying in his actual game like he is in Smash. Also hoping the OST has more variety than what’s available in Smash as the style of the P5 music in Smash isn’t my cup of tea.
Deserved. The storytelling is immaculate. Characters are great with lovable personalities. The music is fantastic. I’m currently playing on Xbox, and this has become one of my top 5 RPGs. My enjoyment is heightened due to my brother having already played before me, (he played OG, so some content in Royal is new to him), and he’s watching parts of my playthrough. He just listens to my theories and my sus list, and just says “hmmm” lol. I’m essentially at endgame, and he’s relieved that he can talk more freely now lol.
This game is great but there’s so much hand holding. As soon as you enter a room you’re forced to stop and listen to your characters mentioning the most obvious hints ever. Don’t get me started on the first palace, that one was unbearable with its tips. It happens a lot of times in every palace. Also, the game is in the tutorial stage for very long. I had tutorial text popping in non stop for the first 10-15 hours…
Aside from that it’s a great game.
Who knew that releasing one of the most popular JRPGs on platforms other than the PS4 would mean it would sell well? :-O
…
Well, we all did. But I mean specifically in Atlus’ main office.
Is there an easy/story mode that won’t let me fuck up and miss the ending like I did in P4?
Edit: is down voting a play style that has no effect on your own enjoyment of the game helping you all feel better?
Great! Now give me Devil survivor 3 atlus!!!
One of the most memorable 130+ hours of gaming. Superb game.
I bought it on Steam so I could play across Steam Deck and PC. About 85 hrs in and really enjoying it. Jumped straight into it after finishing Persona 4 Golden, so gonna be feeling Persona’d out for a while after this I think.
Still considering buying it again on Switch though just so I can have a physical copy to keep/display.
Just got the game on Saturday and Holy fuck it’s good. I genuinely can’t remember the last time I loved a game this much.
Snagged a physical for 24 on the Switch. I’ll get to it one day.
I made a comment about this when the game released but
I bet Atlus feels silly now that they see the numbers rolling in. “Wow we could have made so much money a while ago”
I get it costs a lot to port things over but this was def a success
I was one of them!
Got it last weekend, never played it before and my god this game is good, been blasting the ost on my way to work
Should I get it on the Switch or the Steam Deck?
Asked for it for Christmas during a Cyber Monday sale. Excited to play it!
Never played persona or even SMT before – and I am blown away from this game! True gem!
No surprise, I am SO happy it came to the switch I’ve been wanting to play P5 FOREVER. I am already over 100 hours in and I cannot put it down! I’m even forcing my spouse to watch the anime with me while I play it 🤣
Question from a first-timer: Picked up Persona 5 Royal from the Gamestop deal and am thinking I’ll dig in over the holidays. I’m the type of person who wants to see everything a game offers but also doesn’t have a **ton** of free time for gaming. So I guess I’d like to get a high percentage completion but also don’t think I’ll have time to ever play this thing again given it’s long playtime. Do you think using a guide would ruin the experience if I play for this first and possibly only time? Or is it worth sacrificing the desire to see as much as possible of the game to be able to be fully immersed?
Question for those who know it more.
I despised the monastery part of FE3H. I have heard this is similar to parts of P5. Is this true and if so will I likely not like it?
Got it on release and can confidently say that was the most fun I’ve had with a game in a while
I’m 55 hours in and I have found I have an addiction…I love pokémon and want to play it but I literally can’t pull myself away
Just started it definilty overwhelmed by the amount of choices you can make but loving every second of it.
