It is quite pretty.

Never tried an Atelier game maybe I should.

Sometimes I feel very tempted to try out these games just to see how horny they get, then I remembered trying out Sophie and getting panic attacks because *time moves*

i really wish the physical copies of the 2nd game weren’t so damn expensive 🙁 did they only make like 10 of them?

I have really enjoyed all of the Atelier games I’ve played, especially Ryza 1 & 2.
**EDIT: IMHO** The objective truth about this series is that they do suffer a small bit from male gaze – especially in character design/outfit choices (and especially Plachta in Sophie) & the occasional camera angle. They would be better off without it, but at it’s no worse than the bikini armor WoW banner ad that I have on screen while I type this.
Otherwise, the stories are just pleasant coming of age stories + some high stakes magical-apocalypse drama.

The crafting system is weird & hard to get used to but really rewarding once you do. The gameplay loop of farming > crafting > exploring > advancing story is really well-tuned, especially in Ryza, Sophie 2, and Firis. They really expanded the farming system in Ryza and some of the older games feel a little one-note for not having it. Also, some of the older games have arbitrary time limits which are unnecessary (compared to say how Persona uses days for story pacing) and kinda stressful.

For a series that churns out a AA title every year, they have a solid formula and get most things right.

Jesus they have her riding a dolphin.

Is this particular installment (Ryza) worth it? Ome thing about the Atelier series is how intimidating or frustrating alchemy is in the game, how fun or how frustrating are the alchemy mechanic in Ryza?

Oh cool, it looks like Bos will actually be in the party this time.

There’s currently an active Collab Atelier Ryza event with the mobile gacha Azur Lane. The sound track alone was enough to get me to finally spring for the physical version of the first Ryza game.
I’d had both 1 and 2 digitally but backlogged and it moved it up my queue to start earlier this week. I never clicked with the older altelier games because of the time limits either which this one doesn’t have. If 2 is as good as 1 is so far then 3 is an easy buy for me.

Nobody gave a shit about this franchise until they introduced waifus.
