I love how we just go back to greenery after 9 looked so drab and we can go around in a ship now. (Funny how that’s where 8 starts off.)

Yes! I loved Ys VIII. Haven’t played IX because I heard the performance is poor, so I’m waiting on picking up a Playstation to play it. Hopefully X will be optimized to run well on Switch!

Unless they fix the engine to make the game not look like a PowerPoint presentation, I’m not gonna play this on Switch.
Ys IX was already $70+ I wasted on a game that hurts my eyes to play. I’d rather not repeat that

The devs don’t have the highest track record in optimizing for the switch. 8 looked horrible while 9 played horrible.

I’m highly anticipating this. I’ve played 7, 8 and 9 and while 8 might be my favourite, 9 is actually far better than reviews and what other Reddit users would have you believe. People would make it seem like you are constantly in some grey prison room but the reality is that you have free-roam of a large (fun to explore) city and the wilderness outskirts within short-order of starting the game. From there, you continue to unlock new maps that take the adventure away from the city.
The “prisoner” aspect is more that the characters are shackled to a “grave responsibility” than an actual prisoner of any real sort. I highly recommend 9 (on PC) while you wait for 10. Story-wise, I felt melancholy as the story drew to a close as I said goodbye to the characters. A tell-tale mark of a good RPG.
