I realize that the whole game has a decidedly more… “cute anime girl” art style than previous games but I’m having trouble seeing Celica here. She looks like she’s ten years old.
Every FE has its own visual style and that’s fine, but if you use pre-existing characters, maybe a more neutral style is a better fit than “full-on Genshin”? It reminds me of some questionable designs from Fire Emblem Heroes. The first FE Warriors hit that balance better, although it can look a bit generic.

Previews seem to be pretty unanimously positive. The more I hear about this game the more excited I get. I think Nintendo could have done a better job with the reveal, initially it wasn’t very clear (to me at least) how the Engage mechanic worked, and I (along with many others I’m sure) was fearing that it would be a gacha game especially after the success of FE Heroes. The reveal did not leave a good first impression as a result.
It seems that there are only 12 main Engage characters though, seemingly relevant to the plot, so I am hopeful it’s more like Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s heroes and less like FEH’s gacha (or even Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s terrible pseudo-gacha system).
(Disclaimer, about to head to work so I have only read headlines and taglines and haven’t looked into anything in detail yet so I’m not sure if they explain the Engage mechanic anywhere)

Seems like this game will forever be defined by the protagonist’s terrible haircut, but I do really like the look of the battle interface. Seems pretty promising as a strategy game, though I’m not optimistic about the writing direction.

The FF7 squats with the weird haired dog thing out of context (heck even in context) sure is…interesting.
