Honest question but why do people care so much about these? I feel like every week there are new icons released and it’s one of the most upvoted posts. I don’t have online but my understanding is the social aspect of Switch Online is terrible which further removes any importance given to the icons.
Are people just desperate for anything from Nintendo so this gets them excited?
Not trying to bash people that like these, you’re free to enjoy whatever you want. I’m just genuinely trying to understand why these are consistently some of the most upvoted posts on this sub. I set my icon when I got my switch over 2 years ago and haven’t thought about it since.

I have no idea why Nintendo insists on making a big deal out of user icons, they’re basically nothing. Make some themes, let us use screen shots as backgrounds, update the eshop, anything other than waves of user icons.
You would think with the Wii u and 3ds eshops closing down soon they would be preparing something special for all the games that are about to disappear.

They sold 100 million Switchs and we get this guys.. . no social functions, rushed unfinished sports games i paid 100 cdn for, no browser, mii verse or integration, charging absurd prices for BROKEN joycons 3 of my 4 dont work in some way…

Awesome, thanks for reminding me that I should cancel my membership. Just remembered I am paying for old Nintendo games I have no interest in playing at the moment as well as icons I have zero interest in.
