Does this mean our kids will be able to interact with other characters’ kids and develop relationships with them? I played the original AWL but it’s been a loooong time–I don’t think that was part of the original game but maybe it was in AnWL?

Before Stardew Valley I would have been so hyped for this, but I feel like Stardew took the Harvest Moon/SoS formula and got rid of all the annoying janky bits that end up frustrating me whenever I go back to play them.
