This trailer adresses the last big criticism the first game got: Lack of variety in the 8 traveler’s story/gameplay structure.
From the official blog:
“■ Different Stories, Different Structures
Each traveler’s tale has a different structure. Some have more than one objective, and you are free to choose how you want to proceed.”
Once again, it’s amazing how transparent they are concerning the first game’s negative feedback.

This game looks stunning, if we could get every old classic RPG looking like this… wow

This new cast certainly feels more interesting than the last. Whilst the first game’s cast merely fit into their role’s archetypes (i.e. the apothecary is a cinnamon role who wants to help people get better, the scholar is just someone from the academe, and the thief is this silent ninja guy) they tried to add some extra flair to the new characters like making the scholar a roughed up convict out for retribution, the thief feels more like a femme fatale assassin, and the hunter is a jungle book pokemon trainer.
I really hope this game is a masterpiece, but if not I really hope its leaps and bounds better than the first and at least becomes the best HD 3D title so far

Quick question- Do I need to play the first one to play this one? Is it a continuation or an entirely new storyline?

I wish the would go the Live A Live route and make them separate stories. I really liked it

okay this looks promising, if this game can give me thousands of hours of gameplay without being bored im certainly buying it. but since its square enix im kinda having doubts since the last game i bought (bravely default only has 100 hrs and i already have nothing to do)
