Stuck with a $40 remaster and a $70 30 fps game. At least I love Prime.

Gotta say, it’s kinda weird seeing people downplaying how substantial of a remaster this is

It is honestly one of, if not the best looking Switch game right now from what I can tell, with easily the best accessibility options on the system. And yes, this is easily better looking than whatever texture repack you can find on the emulated version on PC

And all this for $40 is ridiculous, especially when you look at the other ports / remasters that come to the Switch for $60

Looking forward to that Digital Foundry video, because there is some tech wizardry going on behind this remaster. The fact that a game can look this good while running at a smooth 60 fps on the Switch is causing a mental whiplash from what I’ve come to expect of this system

I’m stoked for how Metroid Prime 4 is gonna look if Retro can so effortlessly make a 20 year old game look better than 90% of modern Switch releases. It’s really reassuring to know that some serious Metroid loving sickos still exist at the studio

Thanks for sharing the official one! I’m so excited for folks to play this. I hope everyone enjoys it and especially excited for people to play it for the first time.

I pray to god the other two games are remastered like this. Prime 3 would look fucking stellar with this facelift

do you have to play other metroid games to play this?

For those wondering: visuals are fantastic as is the performance.

I strongly believe we’re seeing the end of the Switch. That direct was incredible but they also didn’t announce anything last July unlike every other Feb Direct. Really has me interested. This year is a banger.

Edit: if you want to downvote me go for it but can you at least state why you disagree? Switch is clearly showing it’s age at this point and I think what I’ve said is logical.

  8. for anyone who already got this. how does it run? what types of controls (and controllers) can you use? is there any major flaw or any other thing that prevents you from playing the game?

Can’t believe Nintendo just kind of shrugged off this announcement. It’s absolutely one of the best “remasters” in quite some time. More akin to a remake as all the assets appear to have been redone for this version. Runs like a dream and the dual analog controls with gyro are smooth as butter. As someone who has played through this game countless times on the GameCube, this is well worth the price.

Hats off to Retro for taking the time to do this right!

I have time this weekend to play it but the physical edition doesn’t come out until March 3 and I’m busy.

    Decisions!

Curious, has anyone here never played it and jumping in for this remaster? Wondering how many new folks it’ll capture.

Anyone played it on the oled switch yet, I have it downloaded but waiting till after work to dive in, the original was my favourite metroid game

  13. Has anyone in europe been able to find pre orders for the physical? I contacted GameStop and they said they don’t know if they will be stocking the item.

Great stuff!! Never had the opportunity to play this, so I will certainly give this a go pretty soon! Thanks Nintendo!

This looks amazing. That’s how a Remaster should look like. I shall pray that the other two of the Trilogy get a treatment like this. The price is fair with that much love put into it. Instant buy.

I’ve never played Prime so this is exciting.
