#FAQ:
**What is this?**
This is a Nintendo Switch remaster of the PSP version of Ys: The Oath in Felghana which was released back in 2010. The PSP version itself is a port of the original PC version which came out in 2005. The Switch version seemingly keeps everything that the PSP version added.
**What’s the difference between the PSP and PC versions?**
The PSP version added a gameplay mechanic called double boost, New Game+, and voice acting (which was later added to the Steam version). It also removed blood and reduced texture quality, although the Switch version seems to have better textures than the PSP version. [You can read more about it here](https://isu.fandom.com/wiki/Ys:_The_Oath_in_Felghana#Version_Differences).
**When does Ys Memoire come out?**
April 27 in Japan.
**What features does Ys Memoire add?**
It has the option to change between new and original 2D portraits, similar to Ys I & II Chronicles. It also adds turbo mode and voice acting for Adol. From the trailer, it seems like he’ll remain silent just like in the original game, but will speak during gameplay similar to Ys 8 and 9.
**Will this version be ported to PC, PS4, or PS5?**
For now, it is Nintendo Switch only. While it is possible for this version to get a PS4 or PS5 port later, it most likely will not get a PC port since a PC version already exists.
**Can I start with this as my first Ys game?**
You can. All Ys games are beginner-friendly and easy to get into, just like other franchises such as Mario, Kirby, Zelda, Final Fantasy, etc.
**Is this going to get an English release?**
We don’t know yet. The most likely company to localize this would be Xseed, so maybe expect some kind of announcement this year and release next year.

I’m just not optimistic. Every YS game besides Origins has ran or looked bad. 8 shouldn’t have looked as rough as it did and 9 shouldn’t have ran like it did. These guys do the bare minimum and never fix it.

Is Ys Origin a good starting point?

Going through Ys Origin now nearing completion and really enjoy it. Mindless fluid combat and fun bosses. The story and the characters are very basic and the visuals are kinda blunt and but it doesn’t really detract from the overall positive experience. A not-very-deep action-RPG with fun minute to minute gameplay.

Why would they not port Ys1&2 collection to Switch, surely of the ones you could do you would prioritise that? It also had PSP and PC releases.

I’ve been playing through the whole Ys series recently. I’m playing it all for the first time, and I’m actually really enjoying how fun and breezy these games are, especially compared to all the long and heavy RPGs around.
Starting from January this year up until now I’ve already played through:
Ys Book I & II (TG-16 Mini), Ys III Wanderers from Ys (TG-16 version, emulated), Ys IV Dawn of Ys (Fan-translated, emulated), Ys IV Mask of the Sun (Fan-translated, emulated), Ys V Lost Kefin Kingdom of Sand (Fan-translated, emulated), and Ys The Ark of Napishtim (PlayStation 2).
Oath in Felghana was literally next on the “to-do” list for me, so seeing this and realising it’s coming to Switch soon is interesting. But since there’s no release date for English, I’m going to go ahead and stick to my plan of playing the PSP version (which I’m playing on a PSTV)

Ive never really understood the mindless combat of YS to be honest. Usually i like to be guided through a game. Not enough time for the grindy combat

Best Ys game ever and an all time great game. For those who haven’t played it yet you are in for a massive treat.

I’m very excited. That is one of my favourite Ys games.

Glad to see them port the game (hope the other ones follow), but I’m really hoping that at some point they remember that Ys V exists and maybe port the PS2 remake to modern systems (alongside with a localization).
But in any case, this is an excellent game. That kind of action gameplay (used in Felghana, Celceta, Naphistim, Seven, Origins) is just perfect pick up and play and I recommend them.
