Link to the Past, hard? What?

I always thought ALBW was the easiest since you can do the dungeons in any order, and since I never died, I just rented all the items at once

I feel like Skyward Sword is too low. I don’t think it needs to be super high on the list, but it definitely wasn’t a walk in the park.
That final boss alone was probably the most difficult part in any Zelda for me, it was the first time I had to actually stop and try again the next day.

A Link to the Past is a brutal Zelda game and the hardest one I ever played.

The difficulty is not balanced. It doesnt matter if you are toward the beginning or the end of the game the damage the enemies deal are insane. Hearts to refill HP are hard to come by. Check points in the dungeons are horrific. In most of them you better beat the boss on the first try or you will have to make your way back to the boss and it’s not easy taking as little damage as possible doing so, it is rough getting back to the boss. The dungeons are tough and annoying. The bosses are tough. The overworld map is tough. You need to “make” your own respawn points….go into a dungeon if one is close by, better restarting there each time than all the way back to where they have you start. Its a very tough game.

I would not describe TP combat as smashing a single button, not that they are particularly hard but at least it have the hidden skills, even BOTW fit more the description of smashing a button ( which would be ignoring the whole gameplay but you don’t really have a lot of moves ).
And if you play without the hidden skills some 1vs1 are tougher than any 1vs1 in OOT, MM or WW ( or even with tbh ) if you can’t break their guard, I am currently replaying the game ( quadrupled damages, ordon sword and no hidden skills to ) and I sweated against the darknut in temple of time, I was basically relying on my reflexes to dodge or hit him just before his attack.
Honorable mention to the armored dinolfos.
Other than that the game let you a variety of option to beat the enemies, the stalfos are though but killed instantly with bomb arrows for example.
Otherwise yes the game is easy, you are not always told exactly where to go but not hard to figure, and the dungeons linears.
Honestly I put the 3D games almost at the same level regarding the overall difficulty, like TP’s bosses are easy but I don’t find the bosses of the other games that hard either.
Obviously it depend what we are comparing.
Just wanted to share some thoughts.

I would say A Link Between Worlds is easier than Twilight Princess for puzzles alone. A Link Between Worlds’ puzzles were *so* intuitive that there weren’t very many head-scratchers. It made for a pleasant time though.
I also thought fighting as Wolf Link against twilight monsters wasn’t a complete walk in the park.
