  1. Played it back in the day, was a fun game for the time but the first doesn’t hold up as well as the second and the third was a disaster only made playable by fans.

I may buy it for the nostalgia but it is the second game i would preferably play.

Tho the day/night circle of NPC lifes is there. A open world and factions you join with somewhat different paths trough these as well as different gameplay styles, it was a rather well made game at the time.

  2. One of the greatest games ever made. I hope they bring Gothic 2 over, too. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we’d see these on a Nintendo Switch. Day 1 purchase.

Well, I’m hyped! I wanted to do another Gothic run in a long time.

I think it’s safe to assume they bring 1+2, maybe even in a compilation as it’s pretty much the same engine anyways and Gothic 2 is higher regarded.

There are also a few total conversion mods for Gothic 2, it would be so awesome if they included those as a DLC…

Bring Gothic II guys. Would prefer that over a new Zelda tbh 😛

  5. TheGirthiestGhost

This and Gothic II were such a huge part of growing up for me, this feels like a fever dream seeing it get ported to modern platforms let alone the Switch

  6. GoldenGouf

Yo, wtf?! The game was clunky on pc so I’m fascinated to see how it works on Switch.

  7. FierceDeityKong

The switch wasn’t getting the remake so this is nice of them

  8. LeHarvey_Oswald

yeaaahhh… time to beat up Mud again.

  9. wait…WHAT?

I’ve almost bought a SteamDeck numerous times just to replay this in handheld….excellent news!

  10. Oh yes please. Wonder how they’ll treat the controls.

  11. preclowski

Ok they got me. My favorite game of all the time.

  12. I first got it on Steam during the high hopes spree following a GPD Win acquisition… before reality kicked in. I still get flashbacks from the quest to get the game to be displayed properly since even the more default measures like a windowed mode wouldn’t help. Am I interested in finally playing it portable without those shamanic dances? You bet.

  13. Georgelush

I love the game on pc. It was revolutionary. Wow level but sigle player

  14. That’s a good news for retro junkie like me.

  15. dEEkAy2k9

can we get this gamepad update for the pc too? the most horrible thing about the gothic series is the god awful control scheme for both gothic 1 and 2…

  16. polski8bit

IF I am interested? Is am buying this as soon as it comes out lol Hope that they’ll include different languages, because for me without my local dub it’s not gonna be the same, that’s how I grew up and to be honest, Polish *is* pretty good in Gothic.

  17. spadePerfect

I am still convinced Gothic’s community is 98,9% German. It was super hyped during my childhood but has it ever been popular globally? Honest question lol

  18. Are the first two Gothic games good? I remember playing Gothic 4 and wasn’t able to get into it.

  19. Short_Perspective72

Whaaaat? One of my all time favorite games and no one told me???

  20. SlayerOfDungeons

Hell yeah! I love this on the PC, and now I can bring it to work with me. Best news I’ve heard all week.

  21. Odd-Conversation1208

THQ has been killing it with their Switch support; I’d love if they brought one of their racing games over like Baja Edge of Control or one of the Juiced games

  22. Eurojank 1, what a classic.

I’ve tried the game a couple of times, the vibe got me into it right away, but I couldn’t play it very much. It’s fucking hard.

  23. Alpine_Sweat

I’d love to try this out! Gothic looks amazing but the wild PC controls make it less appealing. If it controls well on Switch, that sounds like a fun way to check out the series.

  24. pawlik23

That’s very interesting news. I played G3, made a few attempts at G1 with mods to make it less clunky but I couldn’t get into it.
If they make it more playable on Switch, may take another crack at it.

  25. Hattapueh

Omg omg omg. this is my childhood game. it is so wonderful!

  26. AuraOfThePeak

    Okay this is awesome!
Can we expect to see the Risen sequels too?

One game I really want to see come that I doubt we will see, is ELEX!

  27. Keeper2234

  28. Oooo whaaat this is fantastic!! Cant wait to replay!!

  29. Drakeem1221

Gothic 1 is one of the most immersive games I’ve ever seen created, and with thousands of games in my played list, it’s weird that this old and clunky series is one of the best examples of how to do world building RIGHT.

Everything just makes sense within the context of the games world and rules set out. Every town, every group of people, every field has been created in a way that fits with what’s around it. Each place logically has roads, food sources, citizen hierarchy, etc that you could imagine naturally being decided on and formed. It never breaks character just to make things easier than the player. You are expected to die, and expected to struggle putting things together bc that’s what happens to most people in the prison colony. Everything just… CLICKS.

Holy shit that’s huge. I loved Gothic I and II. Also never played the 3rd so would be nice to have it as well.
