Been seeing everywhere headlines saying “Nintendo now offers free Joy-Con repair in Europe!”

Well that’s mighty nice of them. I wonder what took them so long when it’s been a thing in NA for years now?

Then I finally find this here post with the headline.

    “Required by law”

    Ah. There it is.

any one in the UK mind if i ship them my joycons to repair? i’ll pay shipping.

As an American, I miss consumer protection.

  4. inteliboy

Why haven’t Nintendo released an updated joy on version?

  5. YouPeopleAreGarbage

If Iwata was still around, Nintendo would’ve fixed it ages ago. Furukawa has been disappointing.

Lol Americans over here just hoping Nintendo sticks to their word

  7. cabezatuck

Better get them fixed before Tears of the Kingdom comes out.

don’t be surprised when nintendo starts raising its prices on games and consoles

Man, the EU has been ON POINT when it comes to big tech and consumer electronics recently.

Are they still free in US? I bought a pair in 2017 and now they drift as of a month ago

  11. chanslam

    Now do america

Edit: apparently it is available in America and I’m behind

would this apply if i bought my switch back in the US but now im living in Europe??

Too little too late, I already fixed mine by buying a 3rd party joystick and proceeded to rip out the ribbon connecting the side LEDs and R/L buttons in the process…

Love Nintendo but those joy cons are garbage.

  15. If you’re not aware NOA is doing free repairs too. I’ve sent in 2 in the last 12 months – 1 in June 2022, and 1 in February 2023,

  16. gadgetclockwork

I love how everyone is railing against NOA without even knowing that they have offered free repairs for defective joy-con in the US for years now, and their customer service is exremely friendly and helpful. Give them a call and ask if you want to fix your drift issues.

Next, Microsoft and their 250$ elite stick drift pro

  18. BluntMachinerist

Maybe this will be enough for the next gen of controllers to switch away from these terrible fucking joysticks. I keep buying new ps4 controllers and they are useless less than a year later. My pro controller is totally fucked and I’ve already replaced the joysticks in my joycons once.

  19. TheLizKing

What about fixing them for free in the USA?

  20. I mean they’ve been doing that in the US already. I’ve sent me joy cons in while they were 5 years old and they fixed them no questions asked

  21. Kingkrool1994

It’s a step in the right direction, they’re still really anti-consumer but it’s progress.

  22. bubbagumpskrimp

Hey Americans. Lets all pick our own fellowship of noble heroes to bring the rest of our joy-cons to Europe to be fixed!

  23. Faelysis

I’m still waiting for my joycon to start drifting since 2018

  24. deepthroatmybitcoin

Why can’t America do nice things like this for the people

  25. matteoarts

Now if maybe we can get Sony to do the same, that’d be swell. I’ve had two controllers die due to stick drift.

  26. yokohamadc

I am in the USA, I sent mine for repair last year 2022, fast turnaround but the drift is returning very slowly. I am going to have to send them in again.

  27. BigBird36

I don’t know what everybody’s complaining about. I live in NA and sent in 4 defective joycons outside of warranty. They repaired them quickly without a word. Got them back 2 weeks later, good as new.

  28. ImportantDoubt6434

You get what you fucking deserve

  29. RedditUsingBot

Can’t wait for this to never happen in America because we love capitalism too much to fix anything.

  30. monzelle612

Someone do the math on how many broken American joycons I need to take to Europe to pay the trip and stay. Electronics repair tourism industry is born

  31. xxxfirefart

Switch has been out for like 6-7 years now.. how have they not had a joycon revision by now that doesn’t drift?

Its the main reason I stopped using mine. Ive went through 4 pairs of joycons, every single one of them started drifting. I don’t even think I’m rough with them or anything.

  32. p4ttl1992

Next should be Sony, my first controller purchased in December 2021 drifting just after the first year. Purchased a new one in February and its started drifting this week less than 2 months later ffs.

Now I have to sort my joy con’s out and a new playstation control🤬

  33. BabySealOfDoom

Let’s take all the broken joycons, and ship them to the EU!
