Let’s a go! If this isn’t a huge dub, then I don’t know what is.

Woke John Leguazamo is probably home crying 😭

Let’s hope this is a sign for good things to come

Hope they make a PLOK movie…..OGs know

This is my son, my wife and I watching a movie together, the first time my son did not sleep

  6. It’s pretty much guaranteed that we’ll eventually get a super smash bros movie at this point

  7. Hassenoblog

Did Nintendo just defied the curse of mediocre game movies?

You will remember this as the most important day of your life. But for Mario, it was Thursday!

Saw it today. My youngest kids were very pleased with it and my teenage son said “it didn’t suck”. So that’s pretty lofty praise.

I enjoyed it personally. I expected to hate Seth Rogen as DK but he did a surprisingly decent job. And everyone else turned in fun performances. Best game property adaptation to date I’d say.

It will easily pass Wreck-It-Ralph, but I sort of see that as the gold standard of video game movies (even though it isn’t technically a video game movie). It was also a love letter to Nintendo with the set pieces based on DK, MK, and [Metroid](https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UzeLqoYuMrA/UUGcGYWWOMI/AAAAAAAAYdY/HNkMSfKkMek/s1600/heros-duty.jpg).

I hope the SMB sequels can now focus on that sort of rich storytelling now that they’ve so effectively built the world. A good first step would be for the writers to play the RPG/Paper games which have so much heart and character.

it was so good I can’t stop talking about it. was it the most complex movie no should it be? also no. what it is, is a slice of pure fun and escapism just like the many games have brought us and it is a huge breath of fresh air from all the superhero movies and bad remakes out there.

I just saw it today. The voice acting was fine enough not to detract, and it was overall an enjoyable enough movie that did a fantastic job of representing the source material.

I watched it yesterday, really enjoyed it. I feel embarrassed at the low bars it has to jump over though. “New Mario movie is doing better than the mostly festering pile of dogshit that is the rest of the video game movies” admittedly they are not all trash, just mostly.

Please let the movie beat out Lion King 2019.

Ahhh, the next Great media consolidation phase.

Probably Shigeru right now: “If I knew it was this easy to make money not just from our games, I should have done this years ago!”

Really hope this means Nintendo has gotten over their trauma from the first Mario movie and are now more willing to let more of their games get movies or just non-game media in general.

I’d love to see a Kirby animated movie next, hell even a revival of the Donkey Kong Country series!

  19. I’d love a Pikmin movie in the future, but I know this is a pipe dream.

More realistically, I hope they make a Luigi’s Mansion movie next.

  20. neghsmoke

Was drunk when I watched it, bought a switch and 4 mario games before sober. Not sure yet how I feel about that.

  21. Gonna need a Star Tropics movie next and it will be shown only via a projector, no digital. About 2/3rd through the film have the movie cut out unless you pour water on the actual film, enraging the audience

Talk about a big fat W for Nintendo and Illumination!
