Speaking of Gameloft (Speed storm) any talk on when the other game will get the F2P version? I’d like to try it but don’t feel like spending $20-30 on it when I can try it for free eventually.
The Disney Speedstorm says it’s a “founder’s pack” and it comes with a character unlock, 4000 credits, golden pass(whatever this means), is the game free to play and this is just a pack that gives a bunch of things or it’s a paid game full of microtransctions?
For anyone wondering if Disney Speedstorm is worth getting: It’s one of the best racers I’ve played, however, it’s more like Asphalt & Kart Rider than it is Mario Kart. It’s much more technical with more to learn. Definitely takes more effort than Mario Kart does to just “pick up and play”.
If you’re worried about “pay 2 win”, the game has a “normalised” mode where all karts & racers are equalised. The game also has a local play mode, where everything is unlocked to play with friends. It also supports offline.
The game is fast-paced, and looks absolutely gorgeous. It’s definitely worth the price for the Standard Founders Pack, but it is going F2P next year. The game has crossplay and crossprogression.
You can’t outright buy things like upgrades, the microtransactions are mostly just the Battle Pass & Purchasing Tiers for it. To upgrade karts and characters, you need to mostly play the singleplayer mode.
If you don’t want to battle other players that have upgraded karts, just play the normalised kart option.
Characters are pretty unique, each racer has their own special abilities and pool of items. Game feels incredibly fast paced, and most maps are only 2 laps.
