  1. I believe it opens in Japan soon so it’ll have another big weekend!

  2. Hopefully Video game movies replace the worn-out trend of superhero movies.

Critics: Wah wah wah….Us: stop complaining it was a good movie and obviously its doing well….def a case of critics knowing diddily

I saw this again yesterday. It was actually more enjoyable the second time. I’ve seen some criticisms about the plot and I don’t really agree with them. The first time I saw it I kind of agreed with the criticisms I read after about how quickly it moves through the plot points and lack of character development but I don’t think those criticisms hold up. They kind of nailed the pacing for a 90 minute Mario movie. Also, someone said something about the movie not showing Mario as determined. Like the whole movie was a determined Mario. Also, Pratt did a pretty good job with Mario’s voice.

Edit: I just saw that there’s a special screening of the Japanese version in some coastal cities. They need to bring that nationwide. I’d love to see that version.

    Hm, I wonder if there’s gonna be a sequel…

just wait until the MCU crossover! should be absolutely epicccc

  7. rendumguy

imo they should’ve edited Mario out post-production

I see what they did. Jumps past. Because he is Mario and he jumps. That’s clever.

I hope we get a Starfox series with the success of Mario. I always wanted a TV show growing up and I still think it would be excellent.

Not too shabby isn’t it? From hating Chris Pratt to a total success around the world. Say whatever you want, Mario’s truly timeless.

If this movie outperforms The Lion King 2019, I will celebrate!

Can we have a sequel to Super Mario RPG now

  12. Digibutter64

Article title call *The Super Mario Bros. Movie* by its proper name Challenge

    Level: Impossible, apparently

I hope the inevitable sequel has some kind of Mario/Luigi/Bowser team up like Bowser’s Inside Story or something. Jack Black’s Bowser was too good, having him play off Mario in that kind of role would be great fun to see.

Saw it twice once myself then again with niece and nephew.

Hey y’all can “no really it was good” one another until the end of time, but it really was the most cookie cutter plot for an IP that could have taken literally any direction and succeeded.

Bowser was the only redeeming point here.

The exact same number of times Peaches has played in my head

I betcha that with it opening in Japan during Golden Week tomorrow, it’ll pass $1 billion easily!

Lol best example for getting something done right, without this not related woke shit 🙌

This is good and bad at the same time. 900m+ means it’s a resounding success. The fact that the film earned that much without much of a plot frightens me. Nintendo will see this and think “we don’t need for the films to have *plots* that are substantial, the west will eat it up anyway”. Can you imagine a Zelda movie where it’s literally just Easter eggs and no discernible plot?

  20. RoxSpirit

You can be sure Nintendo will use this success to make a game about this movie.

  21. LiberalHumanGarbage

I hear that there is no woke garbage! That deserves a billion itself! 👏

  22. Giddypinata

With success like this Nintendo is probably extremely receptive to more high quality collaborations with Hollywood (think Margot Robbie playing Samus, an Ocarina of Time blockbuster directed by Villeneuve)
