Definitely getting kids to see it multiple times then cash in on the summer theme park trips.

Ugh I just want to be able to buy it on Apple TV and watch it again whenever. I’ve already seen it twice in theaters. I’m too impatient for this.

  3. miami2881

I guess they want to keep it in theaters longer than originally projected?

  4. patronsaintpizza

That’s such a Nintendo thing to do

  5. maverick074

That’s how you get people to go the theaters again, make movies theater-exclusive

  6. bradferd89

I’m probably in the minority here but I like that they delayed the digital release. Companies should be prioritizing physical media, reward people who buy the physical movie with an earlier street date than the digital!

What does this mean for the modding community for this game?

  8. Initial-Cream3140

    That’s a placeholder date.

    July 1st is a Saturday.

Makes sense. Even if GotG3 is coming, no reason to cut the money flow right now especially if they can get families coming back for summer.

  10. KingBroly

Technically it never had a release date. I imagine Universal wants to go for the highest grossing animated film of all time with this.

  11. StumptownRetro

I’ll watch it again when it comes to Peacock

That might actually be the most ‘nintendo’ way of doing a home release, short of producing a dedicated home player that uses custom 6cm optical disks and only capable of 1440p output..

I am waiting patiently for this… But come on, my country is so dumb no not a single theater in the ENTIRE country will project an english one. All the hype aroubnd Mario was also made possible thanks to such voice actors involved and still, all theaters refused to screen in in english. FFS. For little silly things like this people go for piracy

  14. KobraTheKipod

I don’t blame them. Went out to see it twice

  15. WorkplaceWatcher

They deleted the hard drive it was kept on?? 🙁

  16. Wise-Locksmith-6438

Will it be free to watch on Amazon Prime or is it just to rent it?

  17. UraniumRocker

I was hoping it would be sooner. I really want to see it but I’m not a movie theater guy.

  18. Ty-douken

Just saw it today at 3pm & there was 2 sets of grandparents with their grandkids & then me & my dad (he wanted to see it in theatres more than me, lol). I think we lucked out by going through the week & early though.

I immediately preordered the 4k blu ray when I was coming out of the theatre, sure it’s safe but it was fun & I know I’m going to rewatch it a bunch over the years.

  19. Imagine if they released the movie on the switch!

  20. GarionOrb

Well, digital always hits before physical, so it’s a safe bet it’ll be a couple of weeks before 7/1.

  21. XavandSo

Shame. I want to watch it again to catch all the references I missed and potentially have special features.

Really looking forward to watching it in 4K HDR. First movie I’ve preordered (or well bought at all) I’ve since Spider-Man: No Way Home.

  22. 0V3RS33R

I downloaded illegally and fully 100% admit it.

Really took away from the movie watching on my iphone SE.

  23. Twitter’s collective sense of entitlement can be nauseating sometimes…

  24. Honda_TypeR

They’re gonna keep this thing in the theater as long as switch has been on the market.

Nintendo loves breaking records by milking shit as much as they can

  25. manickitty

I mean it’s making bank at the cinema, so I can imagine why

  26. DutchyXD

Damn, I really wanted to appreciate the animation details with the digital release. I really couldn’t at the theater i went to.

  27. spinzaku97

Well duh. An early digital release would do nothing but undercut the box office.

  28. TimedRevolver

I have to wonder if maybe the movie is a better experience in theaters than at home.

Some movies are like that. Amazing in a theater, but a bit lacking on a TV.

  29. Hestu951

Don’t blame them a bit. The moment it’s available on Blu-ray or streaming, it gets pirated all over the internet. Doing as well as it is in theaters, they just want to postpone the free-for-all.

  30. Nintendo H.Q.: We’re gonna release the movie outside theaters

    The movie: boom

    Nintendo H.Q.: WAIT GO BACK-

  31. An_Actual_Moderate

I’m confused. We are taking our news from a random dude, on Twitter, with zero link/citation, about something he has no authority over… Yeah, that checks out.

PS: 12.31 is the placeholder date. That doesn’t mean it was delayed indefinitely. FFS. People will post anything for Karma.

  32. zedbeforebed

Surprised they never released an official “Super Mario Bros: The movie: The Game” to tie-in with its release 😉

  33. Movie made enough money already. I’m just gonna pirate ir
