Before anyone starts blaming Nintendo for shutting them down, consider that if it was Nintendo they definitely would have said so.

Wow, this is really sad news for Nintendo fans. Forest of Illusion was such a great resource for learning about the history of Nintendo games and consoles. It’s a shame to see it go, but I appreciate all the work the creators put into it over the years. Hopefully, someone else will step up to fill the void it leaves behind. Rest in peace, Forest of Illusion.

Are the archives mirrored anywhere else? They had some rare stuff, are we solid here or is there a risk of lost media?

Wow, six years. And I’m just finding out about this now.

Has nobody done a Wayback Machine archive if this??

I’m a little surprised I’ve never heard of the site as I’m pretty into video game history. I went looking around their Twitter though to see what kind of content they had and found [this](https://twitter.com/forestillusion/status/1541085952579293189?s=20) recent tweet about them uploading Famitsu magazines that were taken down from somewhere else due to copyright strike.
Not saying that’s the reason this happened, but most places wouldn’t touch content like that with a 10 foot pole if companies were actively copyright striking it.
Sad to see them gone though. Looks like they were dumping and preserving a lot of rare pieces of video game history.

What exactly was this site? Was it screenshots and infos of development? I just don’t know what exactly i should have expected from this site.

Damn, what a loss.

Not sure if it was directly Nintendo yet, but they sure make it hard to be a fan of them with their overly litigious behavior.
More directly on topic though, it’s really disheartening to see a dedicated fan site go out like this.

If you take the secret exit from the parking lot, you should be able to find it again

Man, and we just lost NESGuide and SNESGuide within the last month or so. Heartbreaking.

Damn that’s a bummer.

I wonder how much it would cost to maintain. Couldn’t be that much.

They should open source it and let someone take over
