I recently learned (not from this video, which I will not watch) that the DK Bongos actually had two buttons in each side.
It makes sense from a real-life percussion standpoint. I’m surprised they didn’t utilize them in a harder game mode or in one of the Donkey Konga sequels.

The bongos weren’t a weird controller though.
They were made specifically for Donkey Konga much like how Guitar Hero needed a guitar. Nothing weird about it.

I enjoyed the konga game and jungle beat. They weren’t perfect but they were a heck of a lot of fun
