It’s intentional, Niantic doesn’t want to pay the licensing fees for Pokémon and has been developing their own Pokémon Go clone with original monsters.
They’ve been making the game terribly difficult to play because the Remote Raid Pass meant that location data wasn’t worth as much.

Continuously make choices that the player base hates

    Revenue drops off a cliff

Niantic: I’m kicking my ass, do ya mind?!

  4. > [Pokémon Go] saw monthly revenue of $34.7 million in April, making it the 12th highest-grossing mobile game worldwide.

They have been fucking over the players for years and it’s only getting worse. I was an OG player from the start, I started to reduce playing time about a year ago and now I never play it.

It’s been a hilarious couple of week on the various Pokémon GO subreddits; watching Niantic’s most avid defenders foaming at the mouth over this; harassing people for posting memes on the situation or voicing any kind of critique/concern. Most of them will refuse to acknowledge the truth, and there’s something really satisfying about all of these publications confirming their fears with evidence to back it up.

I quit 2-3 months ago after the changes to remote raid passes. Despite that I can two man raid most things with my wife’s account. I refuse to support a company that takes away features as opposed to adding new ones.

Increasing the price of remotes doesn’t push people out to raid. It just makes it so we can’t raid. Discord servers are dead in rural areas and campfire doesn’t work.

What am I supposed to do, hang out outside of a gym with a sign all day looking for other players.

If we could also move past the bullshit of their mission being “to get people outside exploring the world…” that would be great.

Pokestops and Gyms are static, they remain in the same place. Also let’s consider this “exploration” I’m supposed to be doing… oh right, let me go explore the 3 gas stations, a tattoo parlor, the local church, and a brick wall someone painted something on I’ve now seen a thousand times in my life. These are gyms and Pokestops, WOW what an incredible day of “exploration.”

The game forces you to the same places over and over again if your daily playing, in no way does it encourage you to explore the world.

THe only thing that could get me to even open the app at this point is a community day when I can get shinies of specific Pokémon for the games that I enjoy playing, and since I grew up on Red/Blue/Yellow, that means the original 151. And even then, if they think I’m going to drop any real world money, jokes on them.
