    >Speedrunners plan to speedrun a game to get the glory of having set a world record for completion even if that world title holds for just a few minutes

  2. ChillyWillie03

This headline is the same as “water is wet.”

  3. MountainMan1258

Should I be surprised? We all knew they would. Why is this news?

  4. simply_not_edible

I’m planning to go for a personal best any% run over the next few weeks/months, does that count?

  5. The_Zoink

Whoa really? That’s so shocking to hear!

  6. Bacon260998_

IGN proving they are just as braindead as always. Wouldn’t be surprised if this was a ChatGPT article…

  7. LedSpoonman

“We’re gonna learn how to speed run this, right?”
    “Yup.”
    Article

  8. LessPoliticalAccount

For what it’s worth, I actually read the article, and thought it was neat. I agree that the headline itself doesn’t give much new information, but maybe the problem is y’alls’ expectation that it should.

  9. Toolatelostcause

This just in, community dedicated to beating games and breaking them as fast as possible, continues to do so.

  10. cmdrmeowmix

Listen man, I’m no speedrunner. I just want to be able to bounce off a bokoblin’s head and fly across the world.

  11. asshurhaddon

The speedrun’s over, people! We broke the game BEFORE IT COULD EVEN BE RELEASED.

  12. Morighant

I’m not sure you can on this one, because unlike botw, I believe the objectives have to actually be played in order, I don’t think you can just rush to the ending. Granted, I’ve yet to try flying up to Hyrule castle yet so I guess anything is possible.

On a side note, I’ve broken literally every puzzle in game and at this point, I’m comprehending how the devs intended for them to be solved. Cuz whatever redneck shit I thought of definitely is not it

  13. spinmerighttriangle

    Game: exists

Speedrunning community: hold my recording equipment

  14. Faded_Sun

I’m loving the meme recently of a speed runner/challenger accomplishing a ridiculous self set goal, then it cuts to the devs talking about it, and they’re like “why?”

  15. thedoctorisin7863

Yeah, and? I would be more concerned if they weren’t plotting to break this game for all it’s worth

  16. MrPerson0

I mean…the game has already been leaked for a week so far? Of course they would be able to plan this.

  17. henryuuk

    Nothing new
Some people that got early copies of BotW had “straight to Ganon” speedruns before release

  18. busaccident

IGN “journalists” are already plotting to make TotK fluff pieces

  19. kawaiinessa

im excited to see the kinds of glitches that came from ultrahand and ascend

  20. farcicaldolphin38

I hope they don’t feel pressure to do it literally as soon as it comes out. I hope they can take time for a casual play through to just enjoy it, maybe make some notes along the way if you’d like, but don’t immediately start trying to break it from hour 1

Or do, I won’t tell you how to live your life. I just imagine this type of game only comes along once in a long while, so I hope people can capture the feeling it gives first

  21. They are more than plotting… the game has been played by thousands of people since May 1st. I’m sure the second the game comes out you’ll already have crazy speedruns lol

  22. Pretzel-Kingg

    “Speedrunners plotting to speedrun”

  23. MegawackyMax

I am not surprised in the slightest.

Also, I can’t wait to see those runs.

  24. StuntHacks

Not really in the speedrunning community but I get super fascinated by it: wouldn’t they wanna enjoy the game normally before trying to beat it?

  25. AssociateDry1840

Good for them. call me old fashioned but I am kind of an In between gamer. I don’t need to go full cocaine and blast through the game just so I can spoil shit, on the other hand I also will not play this game more than one play through most likely and do my best to at least touch all the content ( minus collecting those stupid little creatures). And that’s ok with me

  26. darthmeister

Has anyone here attempted a speed run of a new game?

Do you even get to enjoy the game?

  27. SHOW_ME_YOUR_KlTTlES

I’ve put about 60 hours in so far, and I couldn’t even tell you where to go to find the final boss yet.

  28. streamycheesecake

They are starting to get out of hand.

  29. armcurls

Is there a site that tracks all the speed run records?

  30. Perydwynn

From the bit I have played of the game, it seems more open than than any other title I’ve played in a very long time, so I can only begin to imagine the ways people will exploit the systems to break the game.

  31. vap0rware

And I’m looking forward to watching them after I beat it myself

  32. haxxanova

Funny. Will still play it for the story and the goofy Labo-ness of it.

Anyone playing for difficulty has to understand difficulty is relative. “Challenge” yourself, sure – but know that for every time you feel you’re challenging yourself someone else has beaten it in minutes.

Same with “ZOMG HARD LEET PLAYERS ONLY” games like Elden Ring (also beaten in something like 17 mins)

  33. Brilliant_Resort3444

Tf is this post? I get there’s hype for this game but this is so low effort
