I don’t know about best but I do miss the Young Link style games.

Wind Waker is still my favorite Zelda game, and I think the more whimsical world and coming of age aspect of the story were factors I liked in that.

Sounds more like someone is nostalgic to be a kid again.

Every outlet is just out to get the worst takes possible huh

I stopped reading after he said we haven’t seen child Link since WW, and that no one actually played the handheld games. How can you say that in a Zelda article??

I’d like to see a game with a grizzled, older Link. Even if it’s just one time.

Young Link and Toon Link are not even the same characters, this is a garbage article.

Haven’t bothered to read the article. Sounds like it isn’t any good. But I agree as a longtime Zelda fan. While Link’s age doesn’t really make much of a difference in most Zelda games, Majora’s Mask and Wind Waker (and OoT to a lesser extent) really benefit from juxtaposing the innocence of a child against the severity and darkness of an apocalyptic world. TP may have felt more serious if Link were younger in it.

But while I do think Young Link is a more effective protagonist in those circumstances than Adult Link, again in most games age is negligible. It doesn’t make much of a difference for Link to be preteen vs. a teenager in A Link to the Past, Zelda 2, or Tri Force Heroes.
