Any word on a 4K Blu-Ray release? It seems all the sites have a placeholder of December 31st. I never buy movies digitally, but do buy the disc for the ones I really want to keep.

If Nintendo’s games are anything to go by, this movie will remain full price to rent for the next 10 years then they’ll take it down and it’ll be impossible to watch unless you download an emulator.

Take that with a grain of salt. The original source of the date deleted their post awhile ago. Could be true but personally I don’t think so. Too early for a movie this successful. Plus there has been no official word of any home release this soon.
Besides, the current estimated home video release (physical) is November 3, 2023. Which would’ve been a normal release window years ago but does seem a bit far off these days.

Those bring in the same amount of money for the movie but more people might use it bc it’s more readily available than going up to the cinema. They must wanna use the hype while it’s up. Kids wanna rewatch. Ppl wanna watch but wouldn’t go to the cinema for it and would forget about it later.
Not only is this more $$ since the movie trended so much, this is also more advertisement as this movie would make people more interested in Nintendo

This is the last good weekend for the movie. A nice 2nd place behind GotG coming in first for the 2nd weekend in a row.
After this weekend you have Fast X, Little Mermaid, Spider-Verse, Transformers all coming out in a row.
Mario will still be in theaters and still get some ok weekends for a couple more weeks but with the rapid fire pace of summer movies it is best to get ahead of things and give people a good new at home option.

The movie is still making crazy amounts of money. It’s made another 100 million since it hit a billion. Seems premature to release it for home viewing so soon. June would make more sense.
