Are they going to continue to work with Illumination Studios? It’s one thing to want to try it on your own and another thing entirely to say fuck the studio that helped make this movie such a success.

My hope is that we get separate stand-alone movies for each of Nintendo’s franchises with a Pikmin short before each one.

I noticed quite a few comments about how much people disliked Mario and want something deeper and to that I say don’t hold your breath. My experience with the Mario movie was a lot of fun because me and my family took my brothers youngest to go see it and she loved it and kept screaming Mario in the exciting scenes. The plot was basic but this is Mario we are talking about, not exactly known for deep character or complex plots.
I expect the tone of the Mario movies to stay the same. When we get Zelda it might be a bit deeper but it’s very possible Nintendo will repeat the formula given the huge financial success.
Overall my point is I don’t think Nintendo is trying to build an MCU like shared universe aimed at its older fans but just making fun movies for kids to promote their brand and make buckets of money.

Only ghibli or some animation studio that mainstream audiences have never heard of should make zelda. Make it only for anime fans and fuck older casual players who want something more broadly appealing. If it’s live action hire Peter jackson because he already did lord of the rings and he’s 62 and he might not play video games. The hobbit movies were also great. Weve never heard of directors under the age of 45. Cast tom holland or some reddit darling who’s 10 years too old to play link. Dont cast an unknown actor in his early 20s. We need a manly man playing link. Why not henry cavill. Link is a 40 year old on steroids right? Cast someone in stuff i like not whos right for the part. Or go with laika. They’ve never had a box office hit. That’s perfect we want our zelda movie to only appeal to a niche online crowd. We want a movie only animation twitter will watch. Please nintendo don’t listen to these people.
