This is really cool. I did see that recent article that showed how BotW was really the first “mega hit” for the franchise in terms of sales. Like we always think of Zelda as one of Nintendo’s top IPs, and it is, but the sales haven’t been through the roof. I love Zelda, and I’m glad more people are getting into the franchise these days.
Also the first and only game from Nintendo that I think warrants a $70 pricetag.
It’s honestly so, so fucking good. I thought BOTW was fine, just fine, but TOTK totally blew me away. I don’t see anything topping it for my game of the year unless Starfield turns out to be amazing.
I have friends who have less than 10 hours on botw but they still bought totk because of the hype. Lots of games have been very hyped lately but totk has the “advantage” of being a finished game and running as expected.
How will they ever go to another “style” of Zelda (not necessarily a old one, I just mean another) than this open world-sandboxy-pysics-shenanigans style game? BotW and now TotK almost dont leave a way back, or forward (except for even more physics based shenanigans, etc)
Elden ring appeals to a very niche group of gamers.
Zelda appeals to just about everyone who has owned even 1 Nintendo system dating back 30 plus years.

Thoroughly deserved. You can feel the love and care that went into that game. It’s packed to the brim with so many little things, it’s an absolute joy to play.
