Insane!!!! This is a blockbuster level of success. At this rate, it can easily pass 20, heck even 30 million by the end of this year.

  2. Well I guess the $70 price tag is here to stay.

That puts it on par with Scarlet and Violet, which also sold 10 million in 3 days and iirc that was a record for Nintendo-published games. Doing it twice in 6 months, and on a console that’s been out for 6 years, is definitely impressive.

It’s also just really impressive to think how much bigger Zelda’s gotten in just this one generation. In the 3DS/WiiU days it would have been almost laughable to expect Zelda to perform anywhere near as well as a Pokemon; the best-selling pre-Switch Zelda game was I think Twilight Princess at around 8 million, and TotK smashed that in a weekend.

What a year already for Nintendo

These are numbers are off the charts having sold 10 millions to just a single console platform alone. Think back six years ago, granted a launch title of a brand new system and also sold on the Wii U, Breath of the Wild sold 1,480,000 units in its first week with a quarter of the sales on the Wii U.

It’s selling faster than Pokemon, holy shit…

Granted, I’ve bought 5 copies… and the pro controller… and the amiibo… and two of the OLED’s…

Y’know, I’m starting to see why LMAO. This is amazing.

And this is at the $70 price point, so they’re really raking it in potentially. The sales would have really been even more record shattering if it was only $60 (I know for me and others that are here because we are big fans, the $10 didn’t make a difference, but it’s basic economics more people would have bought it if it were at a cheaper price point).

I see the new price point is here to stay since it’s not negatively affecting sales

    $10 extra x 10M = $100M extra in just 3 days… Furukawa is good with numbers !

The biggest take away I have from this is that Pokemon is way to popular for the quality of games that are put out.

I love the Pokemon IP. But the recent games have been subpar.

Make people wait over 6 years for a sequel to botw with the same game engine… of course its going to sell like this.

They could have added 1 new horse to botw, called it totk, released it today and it would sell just as many.

It’s a good game but shouldn’t have took over 6 years to be released.

the “$70 DLC” clowns are looking extra goofy now. They were goofy before when they whined about the marketing for this game.

The ultimate Tears of the Kingdom speedrun.

I bought the digital copy, and was really surprised how fast it downloaded.

this is exactly why they charged $70 they know they have the fanboys by the balls, that stroke of genius just made them $100 million more dollars

Surprised only BotW and this are the only Zelda above 10 million.

Hate to be a negative Nancy, but with this happening after Nintendo increasing the price for TOTK this will probably encourage them to raise the price for all current gen games, and we expect the next gen to be $80 even if the tech is inferior to ps5.

Can it beat Breath of the Wild’s record? I hope so…..
