I never played the original but I actually think the pixel version looks cooler

  2. Wawanuma

The remake is so beautiful. And it still has the same art style.

  3. _DontStayTheSame_

It’s so jarring seeing it all in HD

  4. ToulouseDM

I never played the original, but I am really excited for this game.

  5. SystemHands

I never thought the day would come. I always expected a sequel, but this honestly me equally captivated 😁

  6. PM_ME_HUGE_CRITS

I think Mario looks a tiny bit too squished or short in the HD.

  7. godlywhistler

I was worried how a 3D remake would look but they did a surprisingly good job. Running animation looks a little weird to me but overall they captured the look of the original very well

  8. Jecht315

I know they won’t, but I wish they’d release the original on the NSO. I want to play the game so bad

  9. Hope they have an option to swap between SNES OST and reorchestrated OST.

Nothing against the new beautiful reorchestrations, but SNES audio is some of the best in gaming. People were way more creative in how they had to manipulate samples within a tracker.

    After Star Ocean and this…

By the way now we have the game that Nintendo Square relationship is close, how about a HD2D remake for the Bahumut Lagoon, the game that remarkable for their break up.

    This deserved a sequel

The original had a more gritty look, they went with a much more colorful approach at remaking it, also Mario moves smoothier in the remake while he instantly snaps into any direction in the OG (They probably added analogue movement).

The remake looks far better for today’s displays but there’s certain charm in the pre-rendered graphics, they used to look much better in a CRT because it removed pretty much all the jaggies. I still own a CRT to play retro games, this game and the DKC Trilogy still look beautiful on it.

Anyone know/have an idea how the percentage meter on the left will work? Haven’t seem to found anything about it.

Super Mario RPG is my favorite game of all time so I hope it stays faithful to the original. Would hate to see mechanics that make the gameplay trivial as seen in some remakes of this time.

  13. InSixFour

This game looks really good and I’m so excited for it. But I’m with others here who are saying it’s lost some of its charm with the new crisp, clean art style.

  14. Logaline

Never played the game, beyond excited to play through it on the Switch

  15. kalvinang

After 27 year i can finally replay the game.

  16. Spare_Entrance_9389

So if you press b at the right time you do 9999 damage to smitty

  17. EndStorm

MY BODY IS READY. Just like it was when I first played this way back in the 90s. SO perhaps my body is ready, but with a bit of extra creaking and complaining. Cannot wait.

I played it not too long ago on Wii (so maybe 10 years ago) and the game felt very short. Hopefully they will add some replay value to this one. Link’s Awakening remake, while fun, only got one play thru from me and didn’t seem worth $60

  19. So much for abusing rewind so I can finally get the Super Suit

  20. thejimmyrocks

I absolutely loved this game as a kid. I can’t wait for this.

  21. AliceDefMetalGod

I have a massive emotional attachment to this game so I’m going to complain a little lol. Mario RPG had a little more…grit to it than other Mario games. Even at the time of release. It paired well with the somewhat darker tones of the stories and such. Sunken ship feels like it’s gonna be sorely missed.

All in all I’m excited, but would have been much more pumped for a NSO release or something a little more faithful to the original style.

That being said, I’m super excited that a new generation is going to experience what is a Top 3 Mario release of all time.

  22. currycatcat

    Can’t wait for it!
Hope them would keep hidden boss Culex and increase more content!

  23. CreativeFartist

The music…oh my luma the music. They kept the charm 🥹

  24. SituationThen4758

I hope we get the SNES version for switch online soon.

  25. DeadWombats

    RIP Valentina’s boob jiggle. 1993-2023

  26. rustyjus

The snes vs of this game looks pretty good no?

  27. MessyBudd83

I used play this when I was like 12 like a crack head. Probably one of the best fighting systems ever. Great move, Square amd Nintendo. Sheesh. Definitely getting the remastered.

  28. The_Odradek_Champion

    This is wonderful. Can’t wait.

Now remake the original Paper Mario.

  29. I played the SNES version about a year or two ago and never expected id get lucky enough to experience a remake in my life time…

IM SO HYPED FOR IT TO RELEASE AAAA

  30. Man i was just thinking about emulating the original on my Deck. What a perfect announcement, and probably great final game to buy for my Switch

  31. the gameplay in the overworld looks so similar that it kinda worries me

  32. They absolutely nailed the artistic direction of the remake.

    Day one

  33. Due-Reading6335

Who’s ready to perfectly hop on rotating blocks until you manage to reach the other side?

  34. dorasucks

I just hope there’s a ng + or something. The original is my favorite game of all time. Got it on release in 2nd grade. But it’s a bit short and pretty simple.

  35. rlinkmanl

Why did they do the comparison in opposite corners instead of side by side? So dumb…

That being said, I cannot wait for this game. I loved Super Mario RPG.

  36. SyrupExcellent1225

I already demand a proper sequel

  37. speed721

I still have my SNES copy!

    Can’t wait for this one!

  38. chaoko954

Some pretty major spoilers in your comparison video though. XD

  39. StalloneMyBone

The music in this game is amazing. I’ve been waiting for this for decades.

  40. VannesGreave

I adore love this art style. It’s so respectful of the original art style while still looking fantastic and modern.

  41. hulk3rules

I always love a good ~~side by side~~ corner by opposite corner comparison

  42. downonthesecond

Looks just a great as the Link’s Awakening remake.

  43. Ferivich

I’m looking forward to this, loved the original and will enjoy this one as well I’m sure.

  44. Ordinary-Jellyfish80

Honestly I prefer the look of the snes version more personally
