I was in the previous post when it got removed for source issues, and I think people still want to discuss this. I assume this is a statement to help Microsoft, but it’s so interesting to see Nintendo being a major character in a battle they’re not even part of.

Obligatory F Bobby Kotick because he just wanted another Yacht, but it’s crazy how the Switch never got a COD game during it’s lifespan so far.
Even the Wii and DS had them, and believe it or not the last time you could play COD on a Nintendo console was the Wii U. It really should have gotten a port of the COD mobile game. Or could have gotten an older port of a popular game similar to how the Wii got COD 4 reflex in 2009 2 years after it came out.
I know the lack off the Switches online features such as party chat or a better friends system is a hindrance, and if you want to specifically play COD its better to just do it on the PS5/Series X. But with the Switches install base they only needed a small amount and it still could have been successful hypothetically.

Our fragile joycons don’t. I went through multiple xbox controllers because of that game. I dread to think how many joycons i would burn through. The game would need to come with a hall sensor controller for a lot of people to even consider the game.

The biggest Western companies take a wait and see approach for success, then by the time they decide to support it we get a couple lazy ports near the end of the lifecycle if anything.
At this point Nintendo has produced 5 of the top 10 selling consoles of all time and 3 of the top 4. The Switch is already #3 all time, and still has a realistic chance to hit #1 should sales be strong in 2023/2024. Yes the Wii U happened but it’s not the norm.
And yet Ubisoft was really the only one that’s been all in for multiple generations. EA came late with low effort ports, Activision never even bothered. I just don’t understand why the same people keep regretting the same bad decisions. He seems so lazy and shortsighted here.

He still can. It’s not like the switch doesn’t exist anymore and it’s not like Nintendo is stopping devs from making switch games.
Or he could just make it for the next console. But that would kinda make Xbox look bad since they still need that leverage since they’re trying to overturn the ruling that they can’t buy Activision, so Activision doing it without waving the Xbox banner would kinda prove Xbox’s promise means nothing.

Companies love porting old games from prior generations to the switch. I feel like a major opportunity was missed by not porting something like Black Ops 1 to the switch. Don’t even remaster it, just put the 360 game on a handheld.

this excuse might have worked in 2017 but this is 2023. the switch has proven its success for 6 years. at this point either he’s too lazy to devote his studios to anything other than Cod or he doesnt give a shit.

Yeah no shit. All they had to do was pick any of the games from the last 2 generations and they’d have a solid port on their hands. That or make a greatest hits with all the best multiplayer maps from the MW/BO era. I don’t know why they never did this. Even if they had to make completely new textures it would’ve been worth it for them. If it’s done right, COD would play great for quick handheld sessions. Responsiveness, steady 60 fps and full 720p handheld with no resolution drops and it would feel great!

As much as I love cod it’s better off not being on the switch. It’s just not powerful enough to run any cod game after BO2 or Ghosts without major downgrades. It’d be cool to see but the game would probably have the same quality as last gen Black ops 3

Everyone forgets how pessimistic people were about the Switch after the Wii U debacle. No one expected it to reach the kind of install base it has now.
That being said, the writing was on the wall years and years ago. His excuse for not bringing CoD over doesn’t make sense given how long it’s been a runaway success. If he said this in 2017, sure.

Not like you weren’t doing well enough with stuff like Overwatch, if you weren’t I somehow doubt Overwatch 2 would have moved over and when Overwatch 1 didn’t suddenly have a account hiccup on my end I never had any problems with player count.
You could have made more money, but you didn’t, and you’ve only had consequences since. Bad profit years, problems with your merger attempt, diminishing returns. This is a screw up that is on you guys, Activision. Surely you couldn’t have found some porting studio to bring over Warzone. You got Overwatch on it, people got Witcher 3 on it, it was surely an option for you. But you choose to not maximize COD even as you cannibalized your company for it…and now you wallow in your own muck.
