the name sounded familiar but upon further research i dont think i ever played this game. as a young buck i was horrible at solving puzzles in adventure games like kings quest. been afraid of them ever since although i hear the new monkey island is very noob friendly for those less mentally inclined.

I really enjoyed the first two games back in the 90s. It’s weird though, in some aspects this looks better, in others it does not. The backgrounds here look so flat and unshaded. The old games, despite their low resolution, had a lot of care put into gradients and overall world detail. I don’t think this comes down purely to pixel art vs cell aesthetics, though it’s definitely a part of it.

Loved the first two games and played both in the 90s. Simon the Sorcerer 2 was possibly the first PC game I bought myself.
The third game was (in my opinion) a disaster. Released during a time when 3D was new and it was impossible to get funding unless your game was 3D. Despite being a fan, I could never force myself to finish it.
After that I think the ownership was sold, and at least one additional game was released. Primarily targeting the German market. Never played that.
This seems like an unnecessary game to me. Few people are familiar with the character, but I suppose someone somewhere figures there still a market. I’m not holding my breath.

I’m gonna guess that the game ends with Simon suffering from amnesia and his mentor being captured, because at the start of the first game he has been summoned to rescue that mentor.
I do wonder how they will pull off the humour. Simon 1 and 2 was very much British teenage boy humour that wasn’t understood across the pond.
