Let’s hope one of them will be a 2D Metroid

Imagine if their next game was a DK game. The Metroid to Donkey Kong pipeline would be a real thing

Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion remakes?
Jonesdeclectice
IMO, Samus Returns port is probably one of them, considering it only sold ~500k copies on 3DS while Dread has sold over 3m.

For the unaware, one of these titles has been announced to be in development; it was done so last year. We don’t have a name for it, but most assumed, given the budget and MercurySteam’s size, that they were working on a second project that was >!Metroid!< related.

I think Nintendo may have given them the keys to another dormant franchise. Or, maybe its an American McGee game.

I could see them making an original IP with a publisher like Private Division alongside the next 2D Metroid. Private Division has been partnering with a lot of great devs on original IP like Evening Star, Moon Studios, and even Game Freak, so for some reason I think Mercury Steam makes a lot of sense for them. They’re not owned by Nintendo or anything so there’s no guarantee it will be a Nintendo IP or even an exclusive.

I mean, some sort of sequel to Dread is kind of a shoe-in. It was received with universal praise, and had fairly good sales.
And MercurySteam isn’t owned by Nintendo, they do other random projects for other publishers all the time. So having something else unannounced isn’t really surprising either.

I hope one of them is a new Star Fox game!

New Castlevania!
rexshen
Going to do Castlevania right this time then?
SutureTheFuture
Metroid Dreader and Metroid Dreadest.

Remember a soundtrack for these games

I’m going to be so disappointed when one is an iOS game and the other is PS5 exclusive.

Metroid prime federation force 2 here we come.
Stabstone
I would love them to take another crack at Castlevania
Make a solid non-metroidvania Castlevania. Something like Draculas Curse with branching paths and different characters to play as but add something new as well.
LibertyJoel99
Ik these are probably 2D ones but we need Prime 2 & 3 remasters

Metroid 6 and Metroid 7 please.
superfuzzy47
I hope they do a remake in between their new games, super or fusion would be stellar. I can see them doing fusion and not wanting to touch super though

Switch 2.0 titles, most likely. I wonder if Nintendo will make Switch 2.0 forwards compatible as well as backwards? So that they can still sell titles to their massive base of casual gamers who might not want to spend another $400 on another console.
al_ien5000
I wish they would port Samus Returns to Switch
LJMLogan
Metroid 6 and Super Metroid remake 🤞🏼

For those who didn’t bother to read the article, one of the two games is confirmed to be a fantasy action RPG codenamed Project Iron that they are developing alongside 505 Games. This was revealed like a month after Dread’s release so calling them “two unannounced games” in the article title is kind of misleading.
The actual news of this article is confirmation that they have another game in development at the same time which very well could be Metroid.

Metroid Red Edition and Metroid Blue Edition. Gotta catch all the X variants.
BlizzardTiger2
Definitely believe on of em is Metroid, but its also possible that Samus Returns can get an enhaced port on Switch.
CMHex
Am I misremembering or didn’t the Dread post-credit scene tease another Metroid game?
