20 Minutes Of Red Dead Redemption Nintendo Switch Gameplay

Looks like a good port. Never played it on 360 / PS3 so will definitely pick it up on switch. What’s everyone’s thoughts?

Never got around to playing it. I have a PS5, but I can’t pass up the possibility of playing it on the go! Downloading now!

  2. marmitefart

Plays very well on the switch so far. No performance issues yet and seems to be a very stable 30fps. Amazing to be able to play this game on the go

what resolution/ framerate is it like on the switch – since the ps5 version isnt really an upgrade – id prefer the portability unless its only 720p docked.

My favorite game of all time. I’m waiting for a physical drop. Fingers crossed that this port performs well on Switch. It’s an incredible game that made me finally appreciate the Western genre as a whole when I was a teenager. I always thought Westerns were boring. Red Dead Redemption changed my mind.

Wonder if it will go on sale. I was never able to play this. I played and absolutely loved RDR2 when I had Stadia, but that system is gone now. I’d buy this in a heartbeat if it was $30.

  6. DazedWriter

I love having open worlds able to explore on my portable. Add it to my Skyrim/ Witcher/ Zelda / Red Faction collection.

  7. nihil__verum

If all of the game and the DLC is on the cartridge I will most likely buy this, but otherwise I won’t.

  8. The physical version is coming in October, so I’ll wat for it.

The fact that RDR runs this well on the Switch is foreshadowing for how good GTA4 may run on Switch if they decided to release it.

I tried to order this on Walmart last night with the coupon code but it was sold out. I can hold out for a Black Friday sale.

  11. 2 months after TotK, this game’s visuals look dated… I’ve been spoiled, haven’t I?

Edit: go easy on me guys, I didn’t realize it was a straight port of a 13yo game.

So glad to hear people saying it’s a good port, will definitely pick this up eventually.

  13. I will probably get it since i never played it, but only on a big sale. I still have plenty of games to play, and soon we will have Metal Gear games coming out, and those games will get my full attention for this rest of the year.

I’m seriously tempted. I have the 360 version, which was very good in its day. This looks about the same, only sharper. If they had remade it with more modern tech, it would have run like ass on the Switch. Maybe that’s why they didn’t bother? The Switch has become quite a lucrative market for ports.

It looks good and id pick it up here over my Ps5. However, the price point is too much for me. I think given what they’re doing it’s a straight port for $50? No thanks. I’ll wait for the inevitable sale.

I will say though the game itself was fantastic and I’m excited to be able to play it handheld

    The Switch version is amazing.
Double Eleven even added the achievements in game since Switch doesn’t have an achievement system, added scaling options for text, and all the cheats are unlocked from the start as well.

Please at least buy it on sale guys c’mon, this game is only the original game with missing features like multiplayer, the price is absurd and should not be encouraged, use this 50 bucks on games that deserve it

  18. HeroOfTheMinish

Not paying 50$ for a 13 year old game. 25-30$ most. Wait for a sale.

  19. Victor_Wembanyama1

It’s definitely a PS3 game lmao. Hopefully this goes on sale lol

Great to see it running so well. I don’t really understand the hate for this release from a Switch point of view. It’s an incredible game and a real asset to the Switch library. If you’ve never played it before (or even if you have) I’d say it’s worth every penny of the $50. Even on its original release people weren’t buying this game, or praising it for it’s multiplayer.

RDR being on switch, could this mean that Nintendo may be opening up their ecosystem to games from big name publishers? If they put even COD Mobile on the switch, it’s all over. People will FLOCK.

  22. playtech1

Only played for a short while but on the Switch OLED it looks better than I could have hoped for and (in the very beginning at least) feels like it keeps a solid 30fps.

That muddy colour palette makes it feel quite PS3/360 era, but it seems like a solid port and great to be able to play on the go. I really hope (but don’t expect) they update the map texture.

  23. DataLore19

This is a bare-bones port. Pretty disappointing. But it’s good to be able to play the game on Switch, especially for people who’ve never played it.

There’s nothing wrong with a basic, functional port. There is a problem with charging $50 for it. Quake II just came out and has SO MUCH extra stuff and it’s $10. Stark contrast.

  24. stratusnco

these comments. god damn, have some self respect for yourselves and don’t let nostalgia win lmfao.

  25. Geordi14er

If you’ve never played this game it’s phenomenal. I enjoyed it much more than the sequel, personally. Both are great, but this first one is really something.

  26. brayshizzle

I missed RDR1 when it came out and really the only time I get to play games these days is on portable devices. Not fond of the price but I am sure it will give me plenty of hours of play time.

  27. No_Squirrel4806

I wanna get it so bad but i kinda want the physical version also i wanna wait for a sale.

  28. accountantguy123

I paid full price after hearing it runs well. If nothing else than to encourage them to do more ports such as GTA IV. I also have typically only owned Nintendo systems so I have only played this in passing at a friends house and have been wanting to play it through ever since.

  29. davemoedee

I bought a refurbished PS3 back in the day just to play RDR. And I think I only completed like 2 other games while owning the PS3, Heavy Rain and maybe an Uncharted game. And my wife finished Journey a few times. Great game. (I also bought a PS4 Pro basically just to play TLOU, and now I wish I had just waited for PC release because used that even less than the PS3. Who know PS exclusives would all start coming to PC?)

  30. ssgod101

Will rdr2 be a better experience if I play the first one? I’ve heard rdr2 is a prequel but I assume there’s gonna be characters that feature in both?

  31. PanicResponsible2945

Don’t have the 50 bones now but I’ll keep an eye on it for a future purchase. Always wanted to play the series. Shame that red 2 won’t probably release on the system but hopefully releases on the next.

  32. Superpan21

The fact that this port is better than GTA: The Trilogy Definitive Edition is saying something.

  33. MovieGuyMike

Hell yeah. Been wanting to revisit this for years.

  34. MamaDeloris

Thats… how I remember it looking on my 360?

  35. findingmyway0101

I played this on PS3 when I saw it randomly on sale at GameStop for 5 bucks. I’ll wait till a sale to get the switch version and in the meantime I have Skyrim AE to finish and south park stick of truth on backlog.
