Today I learned that Mario apparently only ever had one VA. Not something I ever would have speculated or cared about. You could have told me it was a different person every game and I would have believed you.

Wowwwww so it was true. I’m actually annoyed by this. It would’ve been the perfect swan song game for Charles to end his VA career on. A shame.

I figured the writing was on the wall after hearing him in Mario Party Superstars. A lot of the characters sounded tired with deep voices.
So, it seems he retired and it wasn’t Nintendo who decided to drop him. That’s nice.

This reminded me so much of how they did for Mickey Mouse when his VA, Wayne Allwine, passed away and was succeeded by Bret Iwan. However, for Mario, Charles Martinet retired and he has a successor who could lived up to his legacy and carries on as Mario.
