Cant edit the post title, should read “on each system”.

    * All platforms except Switch – 1080p / 60 frames per second target

sigh, i was soooo looking forward to this. guess batman will hold me over. No reason why we cant get that framerate boost

  3. JamesUpton87

I’m not particularly suorised by this. Konami have turned it into a typical retro collection.

Why MGS2 is not 60fps when it was in the original release is… interesting.

I’ll get it anyways, it’s a wonderful bundle if you’re familiar with all the side stuff it includes. I still have my PS3 and X1 for the 60fps versions of MGS 2 and 3.

EDIT: Just saw this in your link, seems only the Switch is getting screwed

30 fps on two upscaled PS2 games is embarassing. Gamecube and Wii were more powerful machines and remasters we’ve gotten maintained the framerate after the much greater visual overhaul (Metroid Prime Remastered) or upgraded to 60 fps no problem (Skyward Sword HD). I’m still surprised at how good MPR looks and performs.

At least the Home systems run at 60 fps (I suppose they just brute forced the framerate with sheer power).

  5. barbietattoo

Between this and the GTA trilogy I’m not sure these companies can handle preserving their own games. Pretty bummed.

  6. ThisOneTimeAtLolCamp

I knew it was too good to be true. Shame on me for putting faith in Konami.

Aside from how weird it is Switch’s frame rate is halved from not just the PS3/360 HD Collection but also the original PS2 release in MGS2’s case, JUST 1080p at 60fps on the current generation consoles and PC is fucking strange

So initially we thought they were literally going to just bake a new front end onto the existing HD Edition ports by Bluepoint, and now we know they definitely got a resolution increase, but not even to both PS5 and Series X’s native display output apparently

It’s a shame too because the content on offer here is genuinely fantastic for preserving the series on current platforms and will probably end up even surpassing Legacy Collection on PS3 in terms of the amount of extras and games on offer by the time they got to Vol. 2. I know they’re basically selling what they advertised and a bit more but still, kind of wish there was more effort in the actual remastering work, especially with how capable these new consoles are

    Wtf is this?

When Red Dead Redemption didn’t hit 60 FPS on Switch, I understood. The game originally came out on the Xbox 360, and it had other improvements over the originals. In the end, it was an excellent port and the game still looks great.

This, however, is an embarrassment. With the greater power of the Switch (More RAM, faster clock speed etc), there is no excuse to why this couldn’t hit 60 FPS. These are based on the 360/PS3 ports, which ran at 60 FPS. I hope there will be some sort of backlash because of this, because people should demand more.

I was so happy about MGS 3 coming to Switch, but now I’m pretty sure this won’t end in a purchase from me.

I thinks it’s ok if stable. 60 fps would be better but still. It doesn’t mean that the ports are crap.

  10. Count me as someone who genuinely doesn’t care.

I play old games on modern consoles to enjoy the game again with some ease-of-access. I will never be upset that a game that I played in SD in 1998 isn’t running at 60fps in HD.

  11. SilverIdaten

I’m getting it still because of the convenience factor alone, but man is this disappointing.

  12. Megadoomer2

It’s a shame that MGS2 and 3 seem to have performance issues on the Switch, given how large the file sizes are (at least, going by the early builds – the situation could be improved for the launch), but it could be worse – at least Konami didn’t make them cloud versions like Square-Enix did with Kingdom Hearts.

  13. scamden66

Im still buying it. I love MGS and having these portable is something that would have blown my mind back in 1998 and even 2004.

  14. digdugnate

at least it wasn’t cloud-only, like the Kingdom Hearts games; it has that going for it! lol

  15. Sjknight413

What makes this ten times worse is that the Vita version of MGS2 ran at 60fps quite a lot of the time.

  16. sideaccountguy

I knew getting my hopes up about finally being able to play MGS games on the switch was a bad idea, specially when we were talking about Konami.

It’s embarrassing those PS2 games don’t run at 60fps specially when they run at 60fps in the original system. It can be done but that would require work, work that Konami is not willing to do.

As much as I love MGS I’m gonna pass on this one until it’s fixed or find it at $10 (so never)

  17. KasElGatto

Between the fact that none of the games are on cartridge and the complete bs 30fps, this is going to be a massive hard pass for me.

  18. Arcade_Rave

damn, how does Red Dead Redemption run better on the Switch than two PS2 games?

  19. ExaminerRyguy

This info is the reason I’m getting it on Steam and playing on Steam Deck for the portability.

  20. novelgpa

Anyone know how shooting works without pressure sensitive buttons? On the PS2/PS3, you would hold down the button to draw your assault rifle (for example) and press it harder to shoot.

  21. MachoCyberBullyUSA

Just when Konami was starting to build back some good will 😆

  22. This is disappointing, its really odd that while the 2012 remasters ran at 60fps on waker hardware, they can’t (or I suspect Konami don’t want to do the work) get them 60fps on the Switch? Chances are I’ll still get it on the Switch, it still looks like a good collection but some of the decisions are odd to say the least.

  23. ChaosLink97

Looks like I’ll be sticking to the PC version lol

  24. killakev564

It’s kinda sad because if nobody buys this, they won’t make a Vol 2 and port MGS4. But bruh I am not buying this shit

  25. EmpireCollapse

Their concept: Pay and shut up,consumer!

  26. sviunapad

Ouch, MGS2 and MGS3 don’t even run at solid 30fps on the Switch. Lots of slowdown to 20fps apparently.

  27. lpjunior999

If this is the most effort they’re putting into games as old as the Bush Administration, I don’t have faith in those rumors MGS4 might be getting ported finally. I’m holding onto my PS3.

  28. blitzinger

Is the 30fps that much of an issue? What was mgs3 on PS2 running in?

  29. Ang3lBlad3

Someone still buy shit from konami after everything they did to kojima? Ffs…

  30. DotMatrixHead

30FPS and it’s effectively a digital download with cartridge dongle. I might as well just buy it on the Steam Deck when it’s ultimately on sale. 🤷‍♂️

  31. Deceptiveideas

I wish people were this vocal about Pikmin HD being 30 fps with minimal upgrades. Seems like a number of people on this sub give it a pass simply because it has “Nintendo” on the box.

  32. PrinnyWantsSardines

This must be a joke. Thats merely a bad port

  33. sicdedworm

Devs have ruined a lot of the enjoyment I’ve tried to have with my switch. 30fps on ps2 games? I’m not surprised. Like at all. Devs always shit out ports. I’m just highly disappointed with this one.

  34. sendblink23

Pathetically lazy port – Switch can obviously run them all at 60fps

  35. Twinkiman

Then people wonder why so many emulate games instead.

    What a joke.

  36. Shrekthehalls-5

Reminder that the PS3 could run this at 60fps with 256 MEGABYTES OF RAM AT 720P.

  37. Ok_Introduction6574

I still don’t understand why people don’t like 30FPS. It’s perfectly playable and still fun. Sure, these games could definitely run at 60FPS (since 2 did on the Vita in most places), but it really isn’t that bad.

Do I think they *should* run at 60FPS? Yeah. Do they *need* to in order to be good? No.

  38. Stykerius

When you make excuses for shit like red dead you get similar products.
