Analog movement in Mario Wonder?

Sorry if this has been discussed already, but is Wonder going to be the first 2d Mario where we have analog (variable speed) movement? I was rewatching the Wonder trailer, and noticed at 19s Mario definitely moves less than full speed on the musical blocks. I have only played up to New Super Mario Bros 2, so I don’t know if this is something in the Wii games already, but every 2d Mario I have ever played had d-pad style movement, i.e. 100% on or off, even if you played with the analog stick. Sure, he takes some time to accelerate up to full speed, but it is not analog. If Wonder is the first game to have real analog movement, that will be a big change and a big deal for a 2d platformer!

Maybe he’s just not holding the run button?

Is analog movement something people want? (I am a very stubborn dpad purist)

I’m guessing there is just a run button like normal that dictates max speed.
