I’m not in journalism, so I have no idea about this stuff, but if you’re telling THE PRESS not to talk about something, why are you TELLING and SHOWING them things in the first place? What’s the point? Just wait until it’s “allowed” to be public knowledge.

A lot of the speculation that I’ve seen since this news broke yesterday (including from games journalists) goes as follows:
Press, probably not. Too great of a chance of leaks. Press often do get advance access, but not until shortly before the announcement is made.
Devs: Yeah, if indeed a Nintendo system is going to launch next year, then that would make sense.
But again, that’s just speculation, as this whole thing is. Even the guy who made the tweet that started this whole thing specified that it was just “rumors.”

There’s no good reason nowadays why all games released can be played on all Internet connected consoles that allow game downloads.

A September reveal for the Switch 2 would be way too early. The Switch released in March because it was do or die time. They HAD to get it out. But now they can comfortably wait for a November launch.

What’s the point in showing it to members of the press if they have to sign an NDA acknowledging they can’t talk about it? Devs I can understand somewhat. But if you’re not going to let the press write about. Why show em? Do they think they’ll be more friendly about current gen issues if they know there’s something new around the corner?

Frankly they can take their time and give us a 2017 release quality and pace again because 2017 is what made the Switch what it is today
Personally i think before june 2024 we should see it but absolutely not before the holidays because that will make people hold off their switch purchases

I highly doubt it’s true.
If the console is set to release by 2024 as rumored then big devs are pretty much already aware of the console and specs since some time ago. Maybe and just maybe they could have shown it to smaller devs but I don’t think they showed it to some press unless the reveal is very close which I doubt.

Only things that I care about are backwards compatibility and possibility of playing handheld or docked. I don’t want any gimmick consoles like we saw in a past – I want switch but improved version.

It’s not like it’s a big secret a gaming hardware company would be developing new gaming hardware.
Hell There’s a not insignificant chance that some very close friend developers are already developing games for the dang thing. Especially if the “timeline” people have extrapolated from the Blizzard case is any measure of true.
Also Nintendo is FIEEEERCE about their IP and NDAs. If so much as a whisper really came from somebody, they would sue the shit out of them and blacklist them in one way or another.
