In the video they scroll through the options, and it looks like you can’t do Voice Off / Text Off. You can only do:

    * Voice on / Text on
    * Voice on / Text off
    * Voice off / Text on

I’m fine with just not having the voices going off constantly, but it would have been nice to at least have the option to disable it entirely.

It also might be entertaining to make the flowers speak some other language since there’s a setting to just change the language they speak in. Turn the text off and just have the flowers yelling something in German at you when you run by.

Easily my number one ask from what I’ve seen so far. Found it just annoying and out of place so very grateful

I like the voices personally but I can see how they might annoy some.

  4. AngryCharizard

Holy shit an option in a Nintendo game, this is huge

I know I will keep that setting on.

I find the voices endearing and I think the Talking Flower’s add some good comedic value to the game.

I see so many people spouting off on social media how they hate the talking flowers and blah blah blah…well, I just don’t share that sentiment.

I’m glad for this option… I’m undecided on the voice for now. It sounded annoying to me but I could maybe deal with it but I’m sure it would be too annoying for some people. Might not be bad to just use the text.

You guys don’t want to hear how they express themselves? They just want to tell the world that goombas taste good!

Honestly watching the trailer i couldn’t tell if the voice was in the game or if was just something for the trailer

  9. _TheRandomGuy__

Surprised no one asked if there’s a way to turn of the ‘easy mode’ for Yoshi and Nabbit

I was hoping the voice wasnt just a trailer thing, i loved it and i hope they have a lot of fun with it!

I’m genuinely shocked because this seems like the exact kinda sh-t nintendo would ommit. Maybe put in a patch 18 months after release but not in the base release.

I think I am gonna love the talking flowers. But i wonder if eventually after my second playthrough, maybe i get tired of them, and then I will be very happy I can turn it off if I choose to. I *wonder* when that will happen tho.

  13. Oh cool, you can change the flower voice language too.

  14. Icehawksfh

I feel like this would be great if you’re just on first playthrough, Keep it all on, but when you’re constantly dying right after one, you switch it to text for a bit

  15. Omg this is amazing. I watched the new footage and the game looks good but the flowers seem so annoying.

The Match System Language is a great thing for multi-language households.

Too often they have to change the system language and reset every time someone wants to play a game in their own language.

  17. Mast3rOfBanana

Thank God. I’m already annoyed by them and I haven’t even played the damn thing

  18. OoTgoated

I love the voices but this was a good call. Honestly it’s never bad to have more options in video games.

  19. Oh, that’s cool! I first loved these flowers, but the french dub is awful, very annoying. I’d love to be able to change the language

  20. Kikoplop3900

That’s good, I’ll 100% buy the game now.

Good, I do not like the voice. I couldn’t tell the difference between the Direct narrator’s voice and the flower’s voice. It didn’t sound “charactery” and felt out of place. Usually Nintendo does a sound byte and not actual words.

  22. OriginalBad

Good news. Not sure I could take Josh Gadesque talking flowers for an entire game.

  23. Definitely going “voice off text on with” this one. That much natural human talking in a Mario game seems like heresy, I dunno. Text is the way for me.

  24. eye_booger

I haven’t been keeping up with the news regarding this game, so I wasn’t sure what the big deal was about this option being present. Then I watched the talking flowers part of the Nintendo Direct and wow, I’m so grateful you can turn off the voices. They definitely are stark reminders that this is first and foremost a game marketed towards children. The voices feel very “Josh Gad as Olaf.”

  25. Thank fucking god.

I love everything about Wonder so far, except for these stupid flowers. I loathe them irrationally.

  26. Del_Duio2

    Oh thank god ahaha

The voices should’ve sounded way more cartoony and not like they just picked some dude up at the bus stop and sent him directly into a recording studio.
