For me personally that Nintendo direct was the first time I ever felt like it was showing that the Nintendo Switch is reaching the end of its life cycle

Did nintendo suddendly remember about mario existence after 6 years ? Like jesus christ 6 games in a row and barely nothing for the anniversary

This Direct pretty much confirms to me that we are getting close to the end of the Switch cycle. They showed a lot of remasters and expansions that are good enough to keep the attention in the holiday season but aren’t taking away the energy of the main dev teams from the upcoming console release titles.

I also got the feeling that they wouldn’t release this much content late in the console’s life if the endgame wasn’t to make it backwards compatible. Otherwise, they would just hold Super Mario Wonder, Princess Peach, and Mario RPG as release titles for the next console.

  5. Can we stop pretending now that the next console is “basically done” and will release in time for the holidays now?

This was great, but there was soooooo many remakes. Though remakes of great games, I wish that effort was put to new stuff instead.

  8. For me, that was probably the weakest direct in recent memory.

25% of announcements were remakes. 10% DLC announcements.

I made fun of the farming direct for having too much farming, but this had … hardly anything.

Unicorn Overlord might be something I look at, and Dave the Diver was probably the most interesting thing I saw today.

A little disappointed, and I didn’t have high expectations in the first place.

  9. Smashbroquedt

Enough with the nostalgia “remasters”charging us 60 dollars a pop . just make your online expansion pass game cube and just give us thousands year door that way but nope pay us 60 dollars. Peach game and mk8dlc was the only good thing in that direct

Are we just not getting Mario Party 3 anymore on Switch Online? They advertised it awhile ago and I’m still waiting for my all-time favorite Mario game..

  11. Torracattos

This was a pretty okay Direct. It seems 2024 so far is gonna be pretty remake heavy outside of Princess Peach Showtime. I do wish we were finally getting that new Donkey Kong platformer instead of Mario vs. DK tho. The Direct also gives me the feeling we really are at the end of the Switch’s life cycle and lot of this is meant to hold us over until the new console. Paper Mario TTYD getting a remaster is great tho!

  12. trashcanpandas

Unicorn Overlord looks like it could be an amazing JRPG

  13. ShouldersofGiants127

Decent direct a few games I’ll check for

  14. Damn Mario fans are eating good but they better learn how to hibernate because they’ll be starving for the next 5 years. I’m surprised these releases weren’t spread out more.

  15. MrJamhamm

What do they have planned for the holidays?

  16. Tori_S100

regardless of what others says bout the direct being lame full of remakes, for me personally who nvr had a chance to play them, they r all new n exciting ~

  17. shenaNickans

All these remakes and still no Twilight Princess port to Switch. I am sad.

  18. tubbydoshua

Not necessarily a direct for me but that’s ok. A lot of people I know are excited for some of the upcoming games, and I feel pretty satisfied on games for the time being.

  19. peezy2408

    Metroid Prime 4?? Anyone??? ANYONEEEEEEE?!?!?!?!!

  20. SonLuffy

This was a decent direct, but it was overwhelmed by remakes and port collections. There was also a bit of DLC such as for Splatoon 3 and I didn’t care too much for most of that.

I’m the most intrigued by the Mario Vs. DK remake as it is a new take on the mechanics. I’ll only buy Mario RPG if there is a new story chapter and the combo moves look interesting.

I was the most surprised by the Peach game and I really like the different costumes. The stages seem to be separated by rooms, but I don’t know what the main collectible is.

TTYD is my favorite Paper Mario, but I already own it and it was disappointing as a direct closer. I would have lost my mind if it was a new title with the same battle style.

90% remakes it wasn’t the best direct.
