Either they were extremely early in development and wanted an easy out, or they were expecting to stick on the eshop for 99 cents, which means it was gonna be a shitty game. Sucks to suck.

This makes 0 sense now after unity changed from the terrible original terms. Now you only need to pay the extra fees if you make over 200k in a year after the start of 2024 in a Unity version that isn’t even released yet (this would never apply to them if they were already developing it before that since there’s little chance they would upgrade Unity versions mid project)
They also changed it to “2.5% of your total revenue or based on number of *new* installs, whichever is lower”
So yeah, makes no sense. They probably wanted to cancel anyways and used this as an excuse

I doubt it would have made enough to matter.
I know that sounds like I’m being an asshole, but how much do these cheap knockoffs make anyways?
Released in 2018 on Steam. Currently $14.99. Not even 2,000 reviews.
I know the majority of people don’t leave reviews, but I can’t imagine that many more buys for this game after 5 years and now wanted to port it to the Switch.
Sounds like the demand wasn’t there and they just wanted to open up revenue avenues.
