I know it’s such a tired and cliche point these days but this would be too much on the switch hardware. And I really can’t see it working even with major concessions because on the base Xbox one and Xbox one s it had to run at less than 900p resolution just to work. Even if you have a Xbox Series S it still uses the that version of the game even.

Something like the Witcher III a massive open world PS4/Xbox one game was the exception not the rule. RDR2 would have to be on the “Switch 2” because this is just too much even if Rockstar does nothing at all with the port just like Red dead 1, but that at least was a PS3/360 game.

The switch can barely run mk1
You really think rdr 2 is coming to the switch? Lmao

  3. Yeah if they’re working on this it’s for the switch 2, maybe they’ll have it ready for release day. It’s not coming to switch 1 unless it’s on a cloud, and considering switch 2 is coming soon I don’t see how anyone could trust a cloud switch 1 game.

It should not be on the Switch lol It’s going to have too many compromises that’ll just bog down the whole experience.

Maybe the Switch 2, but I don’t think this would work for just the Switch without a LOT of effort.

To put it in perspective, my past PC had 8 gb of ram and a 970 GTX in it. I could get it running on that with a lot of cutbacks for 1080p/45-60 hz, but it really needed to be lower quality for a stable framerate.

A Switch is not as strong as my old rig.

And it will be $60, making the price of rdr1 on switch make even less sense

The game has a 120 GB file size, so I don’t see any other viable way than cloud.

  8. yumstheman

I want wait to play RDR2 at 15fps and 720p!

  9. ProfessorEscanor

I’m shocked they haven’t put GTA 5 on the switch yet.

No way the switch will run this without being a complete mess. If anything they might be putting it on the Switch 2. The re-release of RDR1 could have been getting people interested in the franchise again

  11. Manakbains1

If they do it’s gonna look like play dough or be a cloud game

  12. UltiGamer34

Ok how are we getting rdr on switch yet we cant get COD or GTA

This is fascinating. I didn’t expect this, but it could frame the RDR1 Remaster as setting up for a RDR2 port. I’d be floored and over the moon if they somehow got a native Switch port, but this is almost 1000% going to be a Switch 2 title.

It’s fascinating though, as if it is for Switch 2, and was misfiled as a Switch 1 title, I can only imagine they’ve already greenlit production. Which implies certain developers are being reached out to by Nintendo to get graphics/performance-heavy titles set for the Switch 2. I’m expecting some big name ports to hit the Switch 2 next year (if it does come, then) to show off its specs.

I’m calling: FF VII Remake, RDR2, and Elden Ring to be making appearances on the platform, then.

Oh goody, can’t wait to see Dutch and Lenny look like wax dolls dipped in shoe polish!

The more important question is, when do they make John actually look like John in the Epilog.

  16. Isolatedbamafan

you’d need to have it on like seven separate cartridges

  17. nintopher64

Borderlands 3 also took its toll on the PS4 and X1 and it’s getting a Switch port in a week or so and taking up less than 7GB.

  18. DaftFunky

Maybe it’s just me but I can’t play heavily downgraded ports that run at 24fps on a tiny screen at $79.99 just because I can play it anywhere.

This game sounds more like a chore to play on Switch.

  19. RaspyBigfoot

Yeah, if this happens it’s definitely for the Switch 2. There’s no way the current Switch can run that game
