Internet connection required, according to the case, so this seems like it WON’T be like the Sword and Shield editions, which gave physical collectors an incentive to buy.
Edit because I’m dumb: part 2 of the DLC won’t be out for several months after release, so will obviously not be on cart. Wish they would delay this to have it all available.

No doubt they will sell this at full price when it’s a clear 5/10 game. One of the worst entries in the series from a mechanical and story standpoint. Optimization is terrible – runs like an absolute potato on the Switch hardware. Patches/updates have not fixed the technical mess this game is and Game Freak has no intention of doing anything about it.

FYI: Indigo Disk is NOT coming out in November. It’s still on track for December (Winter 2023)

I’m guessing what’s really going to happen with S/V is that they will release it on the next nintendo console as a launch title and will claim it run well there and sell it all over again.
Why are they selling this without the 2nd part of the dlc? What’s the point?
Everyone thought dlc was the way to go in lieu of third entries. It’s just that everyone also though they wouldn’t dare charge for it sepparately. The dlc for either game should just qualify for both. Now and in SwSh.

Question: anyone know if the free download for the Indigo Disk will be limited to one per cartridge or will it be available to any system playing the game? I’m trying to figure out if I can order these for the library I work for or not. If half of the reason to get them is going to be locked to just one person, then that’s going to be an issue.
The fact that the 2nd dlc won’t be out before this makes the entire thing a shitty cash grab.
I’m guessing this confirms that the DLC will be out around Christmas time. It would be a very bad move to not release around the time and not take advantage of Christmas sales (since word of it being an literally incomplete product would spread like wildfire and be terrible for business).
That being said, the DLC probably releases too late to put it all on the cart in time for Christmas. So my guess is late or mid December. Late November would be the absolute earliest but that seems unlikely. Anything in 2024 would be way too late and the winter 2023 date would not hold up in most people’s eyes otherwise. It gives a few more hints as to what the release date would be, but it’s frustrating that it is so murky still. Hopefully we will get more information soon.
Total waste of money then. The whole reason you would want a bundle like this is to have everything on the cartridge. Why would you pay for half of the dlc on it. So dumb.

Strange Pokemon can do it but Mario Kart and Smash bros can’t be sold with DLC packs included.
Is the first half of the DLC even on the cart, or is this just the regular version of the game plus a code to redeem the dlc?
This seems weird. If it is just a download code then it’s totally pointless, but even if it’s not, it still requires you to download at least half the dlc just like everyone else. Why not just wait until both parts have been released, and put the entire game on the cart?

I wonder if the higher ups at GameFreak feel at least *slightly* ashamed of their unfinished products or if they really don’t care at all.
I don’t mind them making this, but it’s kind of annoying because I would’ve just purchased this if it came out on Day One. I get they want more purchases of the DLC this way though.
