Yeah we know Japan loves Nintendo.
What is incredible (to me) is that analysis predicted the Switch would sell 3 million units in Japan in 2023 but that milestone was achieved last week and the holidays haven’t started yet.

I have a friend that complains about the price of modern games, and refuses to buy new games at full price regardless the game, and regardless how much he wants it, but he will absolutely turn around and buy another version of a console he already owns because it came out in a specific color. These companies know how to make sales when they need to, because they know there’s always someone willing to buy. Given Mario is so popular, this console’s success is no surprise whatsoever.

I remember there being a gazillion color options for Ps Vita in Japan.
Then you walk into a US or EU store and it’s just black consoles and nothing else…

Nintendo must be ecstatic with the Switch customer base. Slap a coat of paint on the switch and call it limited edition and people go crazy. On top of that people seem to jump for joy at every single port, sequel, and remake that’s announced.

The Mario branded one got me to finally supplement my launch switch. The OLED screen is amazing vs the original. The red color really seems wrong compared to Mario’s red, though. More of an orange than a red.
