    Here is a brief summary for the articles, but I recommend you read them as there are things I haven’t mentioned (like tsundere talking flowers):

    In part 3, they talk about 2D Mario having less visual variation and being more difficult in comparison to 3D Mario games. One of the developers had problems completing a stage in Super Mario Run, and so they set out to give Mario Wonder more freedom of completion. This was extended to badges so that players can experience different gameplay styles no matter the character (except Yoshi and Nabbit).

    In part 4, they talk about multiplayer, both local and online. They wanted to have a casual connection, where you can enjoy the game online as if you are playing solo (no trolling, experiencing a big skill gap, no wait times, etc). Basically creating gameplay that would only benefit the player, so you can focus on enjoying the world while many other players are playing around you.
