“Well, first I can’t comment — or I won’t comment, I should say — on the rumors that are out there. But one thing we’ve done with the Switch to help with that communication and transition is the formation of the Nintendo Account. In the past, every device we transitioned to had a whole new account system. Creating the Nintendo Account will allow us to communicate with our players if and when we make a transition to a new platform, to help ease that process or transition. Our goal is to minimize the dip you typically see in the last year of one cycle and the beginning of another. I can’t speak to the possible features of a new platform, but the Nintendo Account is a strong basis for having that communication as we make the transition.”
Digital backwards compatibility seems pretty much confirmed for the next Nintendo console.

This is really a funny declaration.

“I can’t think of a specific franchise that I want to see make a comeback. The things I love to play are there. Maybe Bowser’s Inside Story. Giving Bowser a little love would always be nice.”
Of course that’s something Doug Bowser would say, lol. But in all seriousness, it would be cool if that led to Bowser’s Inside Story coming to Switch, or even a new Bowser-related game.

Pretty neat that he says he plays all platforms. Does Nintendo normally acknowledge their competition? Microsoft obviously – but what about PlayStation and PC

Bowser holds no ill-will towards Microsoft? And he also (indirectly) wants Mario + Luigi to return?
Based.

I’m sure Doug’s a fine dude, but man, I hate reading his interviews because they all come off as *so* aggressively careful and corporate. Even when there’s interesting info it’s given in such an uninteresting way.

*sigh* while Donkey Kong continues to wait on a 10 year long hiatus. Maybe the lack of a new DK game is the Cranky Kong I’ve turned into along the wait…

No one hates Nintendo fans more than Nintendo.
We have games like Elden Ring, GoW, Last of Us, etc and the closest thing they can deliver is Legend of Zelda.
Nintendo can’t even go past 1080p like we’ve had 1080p since 2006.
All their IP is from the 80s and 90s and are straight up repurposed for decades.
Nintendo is truly bad for the general gaming community.

Without reading it I can tell you what Nintendo will do for the next 30 years: keep exploiting nostalgia by making or rereleasing the same games over and over again and have people shit themselves every time
